He wasn't going to leave for free without getting things ratified by the courts/FIFA.

I'm sure we would have paid a significant fee if Barca were prepared to negotiate.
But under normal circumstances he would have left for free. As you say, we possibly would have, maybe still are prepared to pay a significant fee; €100 has been bandied about on here.

That’s not a bad outcome for Barca. They control a €100m asset, who otherwise would have left for nowt.

They get a bloke that doesn't want to be there, who has slagged off their board, who can sign a contract with another club in 3 months and who (if he leaves) will leave for nothing, or if they get a fee it will be much less than they could have got this month.

They'll be hoping desperately that he signs an extension. He won't while Bartomeu is there, but it's likely if there is a change.

Koulibaly and a 'mystery' is all I can say. Whilst half the world expects it to be a left back, personally I think their target is another goal scorer/forward. But others think it'll be a CM.

It's been a weird year, and a weird transfer window so anything could happen!

would make an incredible amount of ppl on here happy if that cm would be auoar :P

Utter nonsense. we have strengthened our defence with Ake and have also bought a great pacey midfielder in Torres. Foden will get much more playing time and if you had been following things at all closely you will know he is already more than able to add massively to our midfield and is well on the path to being a superstar.

It also escapes you that sadly Dave was past his best last season and Sane didnt play at all.

So imo we are already stronger and if we add in another centre half will be a real contender to get our title back.
Come on, be fair. It's not easy keeping up with news about other football clubs.

The transfer fee anyone would pay in January is much less than they would pay now.

The only way this turns out well for Barca is if Messi signs an extension.

That's very possible, particularly if there is a change of the board.

But if he leaves in January or next summer yesterday was a disaster for the club.

he can sign a precontract starting in January.Which woulddestroy the current board anyway as elections are up in March

I don’t think they necessarily will hope he signs an extension or ever wanted him to. And yes, while the first paragraph is all true, they still have the player who they may even decide to sell this month - no chance of that if he’d left for nothing.
