He is redundant though as they absolutely do not rate him as a midfielder. Plus look at the options ahead of him - Gundo, Kev, Foden, and Bernardo.

Personally I would sit him in the stands and shrug my shoulders, but as we know well Pep hates nothing more than "sad faces".

I really don’t understand why Zinchenko would stay. In our squad he’s a leftback, and right now he’s behind Mendy, Ake, and probably Cancelo as well.

No chances for him to play in midfield.

Staying at City to be a 4th choice leftback? Mind boggling decision. It’s not like he’s on crazy wages either so a move would be simple enough.

With everyone fit Zinchenko is anyway going to be in the stands the majority of the time, so bringing in another leftback won’t really effect him imo.

If wants to progress his career it’s time to move on.

Agreed in a way - a more confident back line who push up and squeeze the space my help condense that space where the midfield usually should be - Dias is from what ive read very good at defending ont he front foot (like Kompany)

its the left side where Mendy is that concerns me however -Laporte has a big job on his hands

Think it may depend on which games we decide to use Mendy or Ake as left back , get that right and it will solve a lot of problems. The biggest issue will come if we lose Laporte and need Ake at centreback so rely on Mendy as left back. If it does become an issue we do have January before the c/l knockout stages and only 12 weeks away.

I watched him at LB for the Dutch team in the last round of internationals and as expected he was solid defensively but looked slightly awkward when asked to attack down the wing and get crosses in.

Sounds like a perfect City fullback then.

Tbh, I said prior to those international games that my worry re Ake, is a cb running up & down the line all game.

He only just got away with it for Holland, going off holding his hamstring.

2) may reach final UCL at max (ofcourse Hope i am wrong) . Our mid field has a 35 year old who is our Best option and Gundogan who will be playing a lot of games. Ideally should have Got his long term replacement Aouor who is just 40m Euros!

3) big summer again needed next year...with aguero/ LB / gundo long term replacement

If you had actually read many of my post recently you will actually find that I have aknowledged my glass half empty nature and reined the negativity in a bit but that doesn’t fit your narrative though does it. That's why i don't think we will win the UCL if we are dependant on Mendy as the specialist. In the league we maybe able to cover it.

UCL is all about fine margins. Personally, I wouldn't be confident of winning it, UNLESS mendy improves.

He was impressive vs Burnley. Let's hope he can only improve from there.

He was much better in every aspect, & was much more intense pressing, which made me think his attitude is sometimes too casual.

Ake may solve a lot of problems when required, being as uninspiring in possession as Zinchenko but a much better defender.

Just don't have him sprinting backwards & forwards all game. He'll get injured.
