You also mention quality over quantity in your previous post whilst naming 4 players not fit to lace the boots of the player you're not fussed about. I get the argument about his age even though I disagree with it, but then this was never going to be a long term option.
Believe it or not, the PL isn't some mythical place where unless you're under 30 you're going to struggle. I reckon the greatest player who's ever kicked a ball would likely do just fine.
Maybe. But for that money and his age, it's a big risk.
Why not use that money and go all out for not just Haaland, but Mbappe as well? For me that shows alot more ambition than throwing it a then 34 year old Messi.

If it was achoice then I'd agree. It isn't though we will do our transfers, Haaland or whoever, if Messi says yes we'll do that too, if he doesn't we won't.

There are a couple of posters on here who I have a lot of respect for who are adamant the package put together for Messi wouldn't interfere too
much with our overall wage structure. If true, and we signed him for a free then the financial side of it shouldn't worry the fans.
No signing is risk free of course, for all sorts of reasons.

It makes every sense to spend big to replace Fernandinho.
Rodri is what, 24? We should be finding him an understudy, someone in the 18-20 age range, either from within the CFG or without. If there's nobody ready to step into that role at the moment we should be looking at a short term option until we find someone who is. Rodri's age gives us a fair few stabs at finding someone for that role. Fuck all point in blowing a huge chunk of our budget on another 24 or 25 year old only to end up having to replace both at the same time in the future. If we want to avoid "transition periods" in the future then we need to keep the age spread across positions in mind. Outside of the striker role we're in a blessed position at the moment of being able to sign for the future in the positions we need to strengthen and not spend a premium gambling on the 'now'.
