Explain to me why we need to take a hit on Laporte/Bernardo to gain Messi?
We seem to want Messi as the crown to prove that we have "arrived" in world football , as a Footballer we are gonna get a season or two out of him if we are lucky, but as a statement signing we stand to make much more . So if a player needs to go the other way to facilitate the move, then in the grand scheme of things does it matter ? We as fans see things from only one perspective but from the owners point of view they see different things , we as fans would like nothing better than to see Real and Barca bankrupt and out of business, but Khaldoon and Co need them competitive to make money, no money to be made playing Barnsley every other week, it's why we had to jump into the ESL when we did .

The politics may or not be a problem, but they know we are one of very few clubs who have the money this summer.
Mbappe is in control here, but if he tells PSG that he won't sign, then surely they would rather sell than to let him go on a free, even to us.
A £100m for a player in the last year of his contract is better than nothing for them and a great deal for us!
They'd rather risk giving him one more year under Poch, strengthening the side and convincing him meanwhile to sign the new proposed 3 year deal. What they paid for him won't obviously be equalled, but it's worth the risk imo, especially given his age + calibre

Might so sound cliche but I highly doubt they'd need that 100m or whatever that is. Window is still long tho, we'll just have to wait and see.

Daft stuff like that is no different to the oil money and backhander jibes that we get.

The difference with Chelsea is that they don't really give a fuck about what people think. They are here to win trophies.

Our owners are different. They want trophies but with it, they want this image that we are the good guys and that's why we've yet to go over a certain fee for players and won't pay stupid wages. Perception.
The fee bugs me , we collect 50-60 million pound players like that’s a average cost to pay out. Why not just spend £100 for Halland or whatever it takes , no difference to buying 4 full backs for £50 million or 4 £50 million centre backs.

I wish we would be more ruthless like Chelsea. The media and all the other cunts hate us anyway so why bother being nice? The best way to impress is relentlessly winning trophies.

In the football world, and especially the media, good guys is just seen as a euphemism for soft arses. Meek, humble, not winners. Winners don’t give a fuck, they do what it takes to keep winning, no matter what a bunch of scouse cunts, fat cockney hacks or corrupt uefa cheats think of it.

Except it is different

Ours isn't oil money any more,

Roman has been banned from the UK, his company have been linked to lots of dodgy investment and he forged a life cuddling up to Putin and being in his inner circle.

But yeah sure, suspecting him ofbeing dodgy is the same.

Thats all any club can do, as its NOT a clubs decision to sell or not .....ultimately up to the player, we could hypothetically offer PSG £1 billion for Mbappe tomorrow, they inform him and he says "dont think so" ....end of, he waits and goes where he wants at end of contract.

They don't. He's out of contract in 9 days time
