I think this transfer window could be the one where we redefine how transfer windows work in the future. Traditionally it's been a club wants a player and a fee is agreed between the three parties and the transfer takes place most of the time, but this season money in the richest leagues is confined to a small group of teams that doesn't include the two traditional European "super" clubs and they need players and a money injection. Khaldoon said in his interview that swap deals would play apart in transfers and he is probably right, a weak and poor Real and Barca is fantastic from rival fans point of view, for the shits and the giggles, but from City's view not so good, we need a strong Barca or Real to ensure that WE ALL make money, if there is no competition then where's the product? Where's the money to be made ? This season sees a situation where some of the world's influential players mature and future prospects could be available, we are in a strong position financially but we are also strong in player assets as well. If we genuinely want to be seen as a giant of the world game then we may have to shake things up a bit, to get a Messi who would propel us to a higher level of global awareness, then maybe we need to take a hit on a Laporte or a B Silva to Barca or Real ? Give a bit to get a bit ? I think Khaldoon and co are 3 steps ahead of any other clubs management in the world at this moment and they see that the traditional way of doing transfers may not be the future way of doing transfers .

They have paid it off by now. It isn't a one off payment at the end, it gets paid pro rata over the length of his last extension.

The fee bugs me , we collect 50-60 million pound players like that’s a average cost to pay out. Why not just spend £100 for Halland or whatever it takes , no difference to buying 4 full backs for £50 million or 4 £50 million centre backs.

Chelsea will easily make the money for Haaland transfer just by selling players at high fees they do not even need. They have a huge loan army they do not need and can rake in great fees for them.

I am 100% sure they could get more for Tammy Abraham than Txiki for Jesus in transfer fee.

They will probably get more for Abraham than what they shell out for Haaland.

Yeah we needed full backs and centre backs but the club think having 10-12 players who cost £60 million is ok but having one who costs £100 million isn’t
