I think this came down to Spurs quoting a ridiculous price and their chairman making a point of not budging more than any internal factors. How would people have felt had we announced the signing of Kane for £160m? People would have said we’d had our pants pulled down and that our negotiators are clueless. I just put this down to typical difference in valuation between two clubs and the press hype / circumstances of Kane being late back to training making it a bigger deal to fans than it actually is.Frankly it does make you think, wouldn’t another club have closed the Kane deal even with Levy and all? Even another English club, for that matter?
