The truth is a few days ago when many were in melt down over no Kane many said it's been an overall poor window with regard to what we conducted relative to what we needed. A few days later Ronny didn't materialize and it was a poor window again. Now it's quickly shutting, likely we're done and it's funny and pathetic to see how many blue shade wearing die hards are shunning anyone with the temerity to suggest that our window wasn't brilliant.
New typical City.
Think I tend to agree.
Even if we accept that Jesus (who reportedly wanted away) was always intended to transition to a winger and Torres to a striker, there were and have been positions that needed adressing. I'd prioritise them as follows;
1. Striker
2. Left Back
3. Mobile, defence focused midfielder to take over from Dinho/split duties with Rodri.
4. Back up/creative support for an injury prone KDB who isn't getting any younger.
I can accept that Grealish was needed to some extent, for number 4. I can also accept that Bernardo possibly leaving made him even more of a necissity, bumping him up the priority list. But I think the jury is out on how much he shifts the needle in squad strength at the moment, given that he's currently playing in the one position where we are overstocked with talent. Hopefully he moves back into the 8, but with Gundogan and Bernardo performing so well there, with KDB to come back it doesn't look likely. Time will tell.
Otherwise... Pep will likely get by, but it doesn't mean the club haven't had a bit of a crap window. We've known a striker and left back needed adressiong for 2 years minimum now, so why should Pep have to continue to find solutions when we have the resources to address the left back and strijer problems.
The Mendy situation doesn't change much on tha face of it as he was fuck useless anyway, but it has given the club an opportunity to bin him off for both PR reasons and open up a foreign slot. You're telling me there's not a technically gifted left back in all of Europe for a reasonable price to share the burden with Zinchenko?
If Delap actually gets substantial minutes this season I won't care one bit about the striker situation, even if he takes time to get settled. But I can't see it happening.
Overall I feel a bit meh about the window, but we're certainly not worse off.
