Jaysus I'm sorry. :-)Maybe trial instead of lynching? Also, 'QUIET'.
I changed it to Disturbing. Surely any lynching would not be quiet. Well not the first half. :-|Maybe trial instead of lynching? Also, 'QUIET'.
Great post - reflects my views and many others I expectA bit of information here and there does no one any harm. The reality is that the club let hardly anything out, and just because a 16-year-old on Twitter decides that CIty are in for a player does not mean it's happening.
To sign Grealish and keep all of our existing players will do me. I said it earlier in the thread that I would rather stick with Torres and Delap and start bringing some academy players through (Lavia, Palmer and McAtee especially) than go buying more and more.
The biggest disappointment of the window, for me, are those that have been so negative throughout: ruthlessly targeting the board; suggesting a number of other teams are now stronger than us and now repeatedly saying, ad nauseam, that we should wait until we play better teams as Norwich and Arsenal are rubbish; since when have back to back 5-0 PL wins been so derided? That sense of entitlement is sickening to me. It really does make me wonder if they are really City fans or just come on as some kind of joker to stir the absent shit.
Gundo, KDB and Riyad are all 30+ and Bernardo wishes to leave, allegedly. The academy players are 18-19 so now is the perfect opportunity for gradual introduction, IMO.I know people don't want to hear about outgoings, but I think we need to reorganize the team a bit next summer.
We have too many creators. if we look at the 4 positions of wingers & attacking midfielders that our 4-3-3 system has, we have 8 starters on 4 positions - Gundo, bernardo, de bruyne, foden, grealish, sterling, mahrez, jesus. Then if you look at the striker position, it's torres and delap. That's an insane depth in one position, but considering that we have players like Palmer and McAtee, they will *never* be able to break in to such a stacked "midfield/wing" area, which as we know is very interchangable for us. I would personally look to shift one or two midfielders/wingers away and bring in a striker instead. our team would be a lot more balanced that way. It's not a criticism - this squad is very quality the way it is, and it allows us to play a successful false 9 system. we know it's gonna work. But for the sake of being able to keep everyone happy with game time, being able to integrate some of our extremely talented youth stars, and being able to sign a prolific striker, I genuinely think that it wouldn't be the worst decision in the world if next summer we sold gundogan and mahrez and brought in, say, haaland. team would look lighter in midfield but more balanced overall. we'd have bernardo, kdb, grealish and palmer in midfield and foden, sterling, jesus and sometimes torres on the wing. then haaland and delap up top with sometimes torres
Like others you fail to mention who you consider to be the alternative targets if - as happened - Kane became unobtainableWhy is it fashionable to deride those questioning the transfer strategy/results as having slapped arses or being entitled?
Pep led the team to win the league last year and made it clear that it needed refreshing with a couple of key signings, most importantly a striker. Khaldoon reiterated that. That they courted Kane, briefing confidence up to a week ago, and got nowhere near is worthy of criticism. As is having no back up option (see the flirtation with Ronaldo).
City will win games and play great football - possibly even win the league again. However, Pep and the club wanted a striker (Pep mentioned Kane in a couple of pressers which he rarely does), put all their eggs in Kane's basket and came out with nothing - it is worthy of criticism.
