Now you care about stats, after railing against stats when evaluating Sterling for 18 months? Do one. I literally have zero interest in hearing anything from the "Sterling has zero pace, zero technique, zero intelligence, zero mentality despite being one of the favourite players of the most intellectually and technically demanding managers in history" brigade.

It's a conversation about pace alone. The idea James is quicker than Sterling when he got beaten for pace 3 times in one match is a complete nonsense.
compare his stats in 17/18 and 18/19 and the level of games he scored in compared to the past 18 months, it's crap in comparison.

I've always cared about stats, you just want to look at some token goals in a meaningless project restart part of the season and use it to justify him being shit for 18 months. Stats complement sight.

No-one really gives a shit that Raz might be quicker than James, they care that James won the ball back off him and Raz did fuck all with it. Much like Grealish running half the length of the pitch to dispossess him last season, Raz without the ball being quick is meaningless if he gets caught or fumbles it when he has it.

Timo Werner's quick, same shit from him on Saturday. At least his movement created chances both for himself and other people that actually tested us, and that's bloody Werner.

How are they paying conte and what finances do they have to give him what Inter didn’t have ?

Something fishy here because that squad needs a few players. Hard to see Conte who quit because his best players were going to be sold will take a job with no money to buy players.

I can’t see anything but Kane’s sale financing a rebuild at Spurs. Juve have been regularly linked with Jesus. So with the former Juve DoF at Spurs, I’d expect Spurs to push for Jesus in part exchange.

Inter's parent company got forced into an acquisition by the Chinese government that's basically tanked them, so they're desperately trying to avoid going under and selling off the sporting assets ASAP.

Spurs are in a much, much better place financially than Inter.

I would imagine Spurs will give Conte everything they raise from Kane + a little bit extra, and they just restructured their £200m loan from the BoE so I don't think cashflow for things like paying Conte is an issue.

He’s been promised new signings by Levy. Wonder where the money is coming from. One Spurs Twitter account posted a tweet from a journalist saying Levy was promising Conte 100 odd million to change the squad

Perhaps the furloughed staff were on mega bucks and the money saved there accounts for it ;)

I think he is to be fair mate. What would worry me with swapping Grealish for Sterling is both numbers and pace.

Whether Raheems detractors like it or not. He scores and sets up goals regularly. His numbers are better than Bernardo's, Jesus' and Mahrez on a consistent yearly basis. Sterling scores more than Grealish too.

We have a lot of nice technical players, but you need players who can stretch the pitch and hold the width. Sterling's movement and pace off the ball is the best in the squads IMO. His intelligence is vital.

I understand what you're saying about rotation and too many touches but we've seen what an inform Sterling does on that left side.

Like I've said. I think Grealish is right for this side. He brings tenacity, legs and has the quality to learn the pausa role. It just wouldn't be Raheem getting the can for me. We'd regret it.

We're so fixated on shiny new toys we often forget the quality of our own. Bernardo was rubbish for eighteen months. Mahrez has been consistent for five months. Sterling gets a pass and would get a new deal.

I think you make very good points but I disagree that Mahrez has only been consistent for 5 months: his stats and performances for last season were really good. He dipped in between but dealt with what he felt was affecting his form.

I'd love Grealish to join City but who he would replace is an interesting question.

If it was up to me, I'd move out Rodri and Dinho and bring in Grealish and Rice; and use Zin and Gundo as the main back-ups to Rice, in addition to their usual roles.

Anyone else look at the recruitment over the last couple of years and targets this year and think back to pep saying ‘I would play the game with 11 midfielders if possible’ ??

Well looks like next year could be the year lol
