Our previous suggests that we’re prepared to negotiate but have a ceiling price. Does this leave the possibility that Chelsea or United could offer Dortmund more money? Or is the lad determined to sign for City?I don't see the price above £100m.

Yeah that’s true. And even those two standouts that were poached from them ultimately returned!Yeah, but tbf if I ihad to pick a reason for not poaching Barca's kids it would be that nobody has managed to poach anyone worthwhile from them since Pique and Fabregas and they were down to contract law that's changed since. Youth development has come on leaps and bounds in England in the last decade and we've kids just as good or better already on our books.
I don’t think anyone knows who he wants right nowOur previous suggests that we’re prepared to negotiate but have a ceiling price. Does this leave the possibility that Chelsea or United could offer Dortmund more money? Or is the lad determined to sign for City?
Sign him up and sell him to arsenal. No doubt pep would like that. Think hes got a long way to go for the fans to feel the same
Very true. But I can't see the likelihood of that happening, personally. Not publicly at the very least, and not with his agent.
Even if it does, a year in football is still a damn strong negotiatioing card. As we ourselves tried with Sane, and Garcia.
So the 75m kicks in after the last day of the January transfer window? Meaning they could wait till January to sell also?
Presumably the club will know ;)I don’t think anyone knows who he wants right now
Maybe, maybe not. I’d like to think that if he was to come here the club would have a good idea right nowPresumably the club will know ;)

Mate, those two players didn't have buy out clauses a third of their true market value, nor in the midst of a global financial meltdown.
Sane was leaving that window prior to his knee injury.
With regards his agent, you don't think Mino (of all people) would not prefer to keep the transfer fee down so him and his client can pocket an insane amount of the difference?
Dortmund don't have a single strong card to play.
Plus, it'll be cheaper to reinvest part of the money on replacement players this summer when other clubs don't have a pot to piss in. FWIW I think they'll sell Sancho and Haaland to cover their losses, use what's leftover to replace Haaland and stick with Thorgan Hazard and Reyna on the left for another season.Potentially, yes. But not at the £100m they would get this summer.
No club would forsake £25m and the risk of injury next season, to keep a player against his will for another year.
They lose even more clout of they don't qualify for Champions League.
Nobody needs to offer more money, that's my view.
Once the player decides his next destination, Dortmund are fucked.
He's not going to collude with Dortmund to extricate an inflated price for them.
Perfect storm.
United have too much business to do this summer and seemingly not enough money to also factor in Haaland, as they are letting it be known.
Chelsea, clearly, can match the fee and terms, but the whip hand is that the buying club will know in advance who Haaland only has eyes for, so don't need to bid against themselves.
No, but they were free the following year, the principle is still the same, pay what we deem acceptable now or wait a year for less. In our case that less was nothing, in Dortmund's case it is 75m, reportedly.
We agree on everything, other than the strength of that position. Dortmund have a stronger card, for me, than you maybe believe, and they certainly have stubborness to make out they do. 'You can have the player now for say 50m more, or next year and still have to pay 75m. And a lot can change in a year, and you might not get him'. Then both clubs talk about the 50m.
Doesn't mean we won't get him if that is the intent, it just means it'll involve more dancing round.
Valid point on his agent, nothing to gain from a higher transfer fee. Unless he gets a percentage. He certainly however has plentyntongain from there not being onlynone party at the table, because them we are offering him and his client incentives too.
As you say, all predicated on what he lers the club know he wants to do.
They still want too much and he has plenty left on his contract.Who do you think will be in for Sancho?
A lot can change in a year but not once the player has decided on his destination.
Dortmund aren't a club who can afford to play bluff with £30m this summer, either, certainly not in this downturn and no attendances (potentially no Champions League) .
Coupled with that, sure, Haaland would get even more wedged in by the buying club, next season, but Dortmund would have a disgruntled player on their books for another 12 months, which will harm them on the field and in the pocket.
So Dortmund need to sell, Haaland prefers to come to us, we want Haaland to come.A lot can change in a year but not once the player has decided on his destination.

When the press start reporting the inevitable ‘united hijack’ stories then we’ll know he’s oursAs you say, bottom line, this isn't an auction. Haaland isn't saying "I'll go anywhere, just show me the money" quite the contrary, his only decision is a football one.
So, if that decision is City, then City will bid. If it's Madrid, then Madrid will bid. But the idea of clubs bidding against each other in some type of auction is unrealistic.
