That's Delap and Nmecha they're getting linked with, if there's any truth to those reports it looks like they're planning on sticking with Benzema for another couple of seasons and bringing in someone they can groom as a successor. Would make sense given their financial situation and would imply that they're not in the mix for Haaland.

Hope we keep delap somehow .

absolutely but after Sancho’s move I get bit worried about others following his path.
Some inevitably will and we'll make a few quid on them when they go, all we can do with those is try to make sure we're covered with buybacks and sell ons etc if they do reach the required standard. Others won't. Personally I think the best of them won't.

Agreed . Not all of them are rough diamonds and difficult to pin point at this age . Hope he is surrounded with people who will give him the best advise for his future.

Yeah, people need to have realistic expectations of the academy, it's not going to churn out first team players every season, not at the level the club want to be at.
UEFA's squad guidelines for the CL require 4 club trained players to get a full squad of 25. If we take it that a career at the top level averages out at around 12 seasons then that's one every 3-4 years depending on goalkeepers, that's what we should be setting as the bar.

Bit of a leap being linked with loans at championship sides to a first team signing at Real Madrid.

He would do nicely on loan at Dortmund perhaps.

Dortmund aren’t fond of us so I don’t think they’d wanna take on of ours and develop him. I acc felt the same way too but others pointed out this issue and it is probably true

We should be setting the bar higher. We have several good young players coming through and the aim should be to get as many of them to a standard that would allow them to get game time with us.
We should surely be able to have way more than 4 club trained players, going by the standard of the young players currently with us.
In reality, all we need to have is the best players in England.
The Champions league is a bit of a lottery and I don't like the idea of spending a load of dosh just to win that one trophy.
The teams that knocked us out in the last rounds of the Champions league did not have better squads.
I know the youngsters want to get to play with a 1st team and we should try and provide it.

We should be trying to get as many as possible, I don't disagree. But even La Masia at it's very peak saw only 7-8 or so players getting meaningful gametime in Barca's first team and Pique, Fabregas and Alba all had to leave and return first. 4 players is an achievement with the limits academy systems operate under, especially for the UK academies post-Brexit.

I'd just like the likes of Delap, McAtee, Palmer, Doyle and that young DM to get some sort of encouragement in squad inclusion & ideally a bit of game time then a decent loan to 'harden up'.

Surely with their and the eds team stats it should produce some reasonable offers of good loans.
