Given the frankly insane amount of money we’ve spent over the past few years, how the hell are we still in a situation where we’re probably going to have to spend another £200 million + this summer to improve?!

The answer is in the question.

You don't spend £500m on a team and then improve it with a couple of £10m bargain bin players.

I think his point is that vast majority of our signings cost at least £40m and other clubs get good players for far less spending.

We just take the easy route and splash the cash on the hyped thing.

We can be smarter in the market, there is no doubt about that.

when you have the money you spend it to keep ahead of the scum scousers and Chelsea.. oh we won shitloads of trophies unlike the scum who have spent the same!

Majority of most top clubs signings cost 40 million. Chelsea spent shit ton on their team this season. More than any team in the world infact.

Yeah but their average spending is much lower and they spent that due to transfer ban. Basically 2 summers worth of cash.

I think they compensated the transfer ban spending when they bought in Kepa, Jorginho, Kovacic and Pulisic right before getting banned.

We’ve got 6 defenders that cost over £50 million and a 7th that cost £40 million. And a £60 million DM that doesn’t even get on the pitch in a CL final. It’s obscene.
Are you bothered by the price or quality?
We pay over the odds because clubs know we have it
Same for united
If we want a £20m player they want £40m
As fo those talking Robertson well the dippers have not got quality subs for the first 11 which is why they haven’t won a thing this year
Stick hardwood bellis, tosin, Angelino amd Garcia in and see what happens!

Or Oleksandr Zinchenko?

If you're jealous of Everton and Liverpool then that's up to you but our recruitment is pretty hard to argue with when we've been winning trophies left, right and centre.
Funny thing is that a 90 minute game suddenly questions our recruitment policy over a few years. Win yesterday and Txiki is the best thing at this club.
It is because of our recruitment that we are consistently winning trophies unlike anyother PL club.

Explain how?

We don’t sell our best players!
We have let all our top players see out their contracts and the club is happy with this, as is 99% of supporters.

So after a long walk this afternoon my son and me have boiled it down to this, spoiler warning, nothing revolutionary follows here.

Aguero out Haaland or Kane in most likely Kane

Grealish seems a lot of smoke so assuming a fire either Jesus or Sterling out, probably depends on the players more than the club which one

Maybe Laporte leaves if so we bring in somebody we think can cover CDM when Fern leaves and also be 4th centre back Kamara? I know nothing about him except what I’ve read here.

Left back if Mendy goes maybe Mendes? again only what I’ve read here.

Think that’s the most we’ll want to do in order of necessity. But really Striker is the big one the rest less so.

Anyway happy summer to all ,looking forward to next season just to go to games again, and seeing games with fans. Confident whatever we do we’ll be challenging for tin pots again and watching great football.

For what it’s worth, Sane’s girlfriend is really missing their days at City. Says she doesn’t support Bayern and would like to be back at City. Sane hasn’t quite kicked on since joining Bayern, and they also play him on the right instead of the left side. Unlikely, but I would love to see him back. Pep could get the best out of him, and he’s a big game player

I don’t think Pep can get the best out of him, his mentality isn’t right. Great potential, but after watching him for Bayern this season he looks a shadow of the player he was 2-3 years ago

The goal scorer who won the CL 2021 cost the winning team £87M.
It’s the market we have to shop in to try and replace the world class striker that is Sergio Aquero.
