Buy Grealish, sell Sterling, then unleash Torres in a central role.
torres centrally is an intersting option....
Pep has already alluded to what a great finisher he is.....way above sterling and Jesus...He has the pace to play on the shoulder of the last man and also has the movement int he box (across the front post etc).......

Very hard to move anyone on with out some heft losses. While anyone who we target to buy we will be charged heavily for them.

If sterling had played about same last 4 seasons as he had with us in terms of numbers and would be paying for Spurs or Arsenal and we would be in for him after not one of his best season they would easily ask 100m for him. We wont be getting 50m for him imo.

Laporte may want to join Barca or Real who seemingly are doing free agents for a financial reason. (Alaba, Wijnaldum, Eric Garcia Aguero) . How much of the 60m spent oon him can be recouped? 30-40m maybe?
And then he can become a rock at Real defence for next 6-7 years for such a cut price deal.

Jesus was not an expensive buy but surely he would worth 50-60m in current market. and imo if we lose him we have to replace him not just Aguero.

Harry Kane alone is not enough imo if Kun+Jesus leaves. And you not gonna get someone better than Jesus to be happy to rot on bench behind Kane.

I generally do not trust Txiki to get good fees when it comes to selling unwanted players and this summer could be another case for it when it comes to selling players we actually might would like to keep but they looking for new adventure/more playing time or had enough of Pep etc.

I want to see Txiki charge someone 20m for Mendy thats still a big loss to the 50m we wasted on him, but honestly we are lucky to get 5m for Mendy and that is with us paying his salary probably still for next few years.

Might just be alone on this but good god we miss pace in this team. Chelsea aren't special, but they make it work because of extra ordinary pace up front. I miss having Sané, him and Sterling hugging the touchline both flanks while El Mago and KDB control the tempo.

I would love for us to get a winger
Yea me too. Felt that's where the final was lost Saturday. We have some great technical footballers, but Chelsea's pace and athleticism won them that game. An injection of pace in this team is needed

Also both Madrid and Barcelona would want a CB and they can go for LaPorte but they don't have money to pay. Barcelona is going for free transfers. We will ask £60/70m for him

I think Torres will feature a lot more next season. This season he has been inconsistent, but hopefully he will be more settled next year and I am confident he will prove to be a great signing.

What did we payfor Laporte..?

If Madrid want him as reported then we could make some profit on him as Id expect him to go for anywhere between 65-80m

Likewise if sterling wen t I reckon we woud get more than the 50m+ we paid for him

Mendy - yes we will lose on him but no one could have forseen the injuries and appalling form

Think we'd want at leat £75 80mill for Sterling. Think of the 2 Jesus more likely to go if anyone, guess we'd take about £60 mill plus add ons for him.

I was thinking this while watching the final too,
If you reflect on even a couple of years ago compared to the team nowadays we are really lacking athleticism.
Losing sane, Kun, dinho even silva and mendy to an extent. The players we now have in them roles just don’t have the same sort of devastating pace, we’ve done excellently to adapt, but as seen this season we’ve not scored so many goals on the break, tbh not as many goals in general, and there’s been a lot less impetuous on playing down the wings and causing chaos with quick transitions.

This is the main reason I believe sterling’s looked so bad this year, that same player he was is still in him, the way we’ve played this season just hasn’t suited him as a footballer at all.

I don’t feel like we personally have any players at the moment that terrify the defenders when running at them, pace scares defences. I’m worried about the kane signing because he’s not quick and I don’t see him being a game changer, he’s a very good technical player that will score a lot of goals. With haaland he’s just a different animal that can make something happen from nothing on his own; a type of player I think we lack at the moment

How many years has Aymeric got left on his contract? There’s no way that we should entertain any offers under £70m. Covid or not, look at what the rags paid for that fridge.

If no one pays the asking price then he has to stay and fight for his place. We need four top centre backs. Laporte will have his chance to force his way back into the side

Some good debates on here this morning. Personally, IF no one was to leave I’d keep the squad exactly the same with the only addition being a world class striker. We certainly don’t need back up signings - we’ve plenty of back up players in the squad already plus some crackers coming through the academy. Any signing would have to be a first XI starter. So if we have 150-200 mil available, I can see us going huge on Kane or Haaland. Then like others have said, if players want to leave then we will replace those with the funds we get from sales. We certainly don’t need to have an overhaul like some are suggesting. Just look at what we have done this season

Haalands a counter attacking player with little technique he wouldnt fit either just like sterling.Kane for me is the better fit.grealish is linked because pep likes to retain possesion if you put fast players wide with less technique we wont keep the ball as well.Maybe a young player fast but technical of the bench is the answer thats where kayky could be involved .It is going to be interesting to see what unfolds no doubt.

We'll agree to disagree and leave it there. With Pep in charge, I am not afraid of anyone leaving. He's the best coach in the world IMO, and will continue to win trophies at a stupid rate for us.

Best coach in the world, I agree, and yet he can’t install any composure and better decision making into Sterling. Kind of defeats your argument.

Kane, Grealish and Rice.

£280m should just about do it ;)

*my preference

*whoever wants to leave can do so, regardless of reputation.
Do you think Rice is a possibility or is that just who you’d like? Not heard anything regarding Rice being a possibility

I feel sorry for Jesus. He's incredibly committed to making it work with us and put it all out there when he came on at the weekend.

I would much rather have Gabby around the club and playing wide left than Sterling if that was ever the choice to be had.

We need Gabby more than ever next season because our new striker can't play every game and I see enough from Jesus to know he will still score goals.

Rice.....where has that name come from or is that just prefernce

Personally for me

Boussma (lad from Brighton)
Haaland
