I would love it if Newcastle do get taken over. I welcome more clubs challenging for the title with limitless coffers as that means more of a chance that the rags, liverpool, chelsea, spurs, and arsenal are disrupted and kept at arms reach. We're run so well I just can't see us drifting away from the top positions, whereas in the last 10 years all of the aforementioned clubs have had major wobbles. MAYBE when Pep leaves we could be vulnerable the more clubs are challenging for the top 4/title, but I trust we will have a contingency lined up.

Great news for Newcastle and even better news if they throw shed loads at us for their statement signings.

Saúl is quality. Him and Koke are the heartbeat of that Madrid team. Can play central and defensive midfielder. Not as technical as Silva but his work rate is fantastic. Think he leads the way in La Liga for distance covered per game. Not afraid to get stuck in as well. Think of Dino/Gundogan hybrid and your not too far away

I don't know much about him, but he's played a lot less minutes this season than any since he arrived at Atlético, and when I google him, the first video that pops up is a recent one titled "What the hell is happening to Saúl Ñíguez?"

Transfermarkt valuations are plucked from air that is pretty thin, but still, his "valuation" has almost halved in the last 18 months. Maybe it's just that he's unhappy, but given that his club have just won the league, there are definite red flashing lights.

Laporte going to Barca would be funny considering he posted being against the Super Leguae and Barca are still part of it.

Ancelotti was against it then Madrid offered him a tonne of money and now I’m sure he’s in favour

Saul/Bernardo is an interesting one. I love Bernardo but we do have a conundrum with him. Him and KDB in the same midfield just doesn’t work, we lose all semblance of midfield control when he plays both. Both players are much less effective in that left no. 8 role too. With Kev in for the long haul now something had to give. Bernie isn’t getting games on the right anymore either.

Aside from the work rate, does Saul have what it takes to undertake the role Silva/Gundo have done for us in midfield since pep arrived? Can’t say I have seen much of Atleti in recent years.
