This is not funny anymore. Tomorrow it will be Zinchenko, Foden, KDB and Cancelo linked with Barca move. I am pretty sure its all done by Joan Laporta and I think its some attack on Txiki/soriano?

Maybe Pep himself pulling the strings here? is he the puppet master? :)

Clear conflict of interest. Pep will always choose cule over manc imo.

Is this a serious post?

I would just like to let Barca know that I'm considering moving from The Etihad this summer. I find the weather and the beer to watery.

I'm open to offers and if a deal could be done for an villa with a sizable pool, I'd very much consider it.

*note to Bluemoon, please don't convince me to stay with PMs, I might miss Barca's CEO.
I always thought you were a poor mans Garcia - good riddance!

Lol all you want. The good games rodders has played are normally against team who do not press or counter. The league is too fast for him. If we had if played Madrid in the final he would have been fantastic.
Look there are better arguments against Rodri than these Collymore-esque takes. The fact of the matter is that we've done a whole lot domestically with Rodri in the middle a whole lot of the time. So either Rodri's better than you give him credit for, the league is weaker than you give it credit for, or you're wrong on both fronts.

Unfortunately for Rodri he is suffering from what Jesus did on here. Being compared to a mythical version of a different player.

Rodri gets compared to Fernandinho, which is fair enough. And there are areas where Fernandinho is definitely better than Rodri, fair enough again. Unfortunately, Fernandinho is the best defensive player to ever play in DM. He's also the best attacker to play in DM. He's never missed a tackle, he's never missed an interception (he regularly tops world stats). He's the best at being a metronome, he's the best at long balls, he's the best at dribbling, he's the fastest, the strongest, and got the best leap. We've won every single game Fernandinho ever played, playing brilliantly every time. Every game he hasn't played this season we have noticeably struggled. His leadership is unmatchable. He's like Busquets, Kanté, Touré, Kompany, and Lampard all in one player.

And I mean none of that to knock Fernandinho, who is obviously a club legend. But as long as the mythical version of him exists Rodri doesn't stand a chance. Rodri gave the ball away in a meaningless game against Chelsea? Fernandinho would never do that in an important game (like Newcastle away 2019). Rodri passes sideways? Fernandinho would never be caught doing that (does it all the time).

The irony of all this is that the next time Fernandinho has a less than perfect game it's going to be the same people saying he's too old as the ones lazily critiquing Rodri.
My take on Rodri is the 1st season he struggled to get to the fitness level of a Premier League player followed by his lack of speed especially when trying to get back into shape when losing the ball

I also think his 1st season was average because Liverpool were miles better than anyone, the City team got ripped by everyone from Sky, Journalists & commentators who all called City out for playing Dino at CB so we were basically shit at the back & poor at HM with Rodri miles off the pace

His 2nd season didn't start to well but neither did anyones

Come the Chelsea 1-3 & turning point in the season the whole team just got better, fitter & we started to see the new City with Dias & Stones the main reason behind the resurgence of Pep & the team + Dino playing more
Everyone then started to get better inc Rodri himself playing without doubt his best stuff, along with Gundagun & Bernardo they definitely helped Rodri get to grips with the League & his own game was much better
The problem there after was staying at the top of his game the pace Pep required ontop of the pace the league required if you know what I mean Pep demands much more & for me its a huge problem he hasn't got that speed to get himself out of trouble nor get back in when it breaks down no suprise the defeats & draws he played & started at HM in all of them appart from the Leeds loss at home
He was definitely Peps love child but going fwd I see changes, I would like to see him at CB if Laporte fucks off?

Barcelona have in the past hour offered City a package for Kevin de Bruyne of 8.3 million euros plus bonuses and the permanent transfer of the much sought after Eric Garcia. Barca expect intense negotiations to take place in the coming days with a deal expected to be concluded before the Euro s commence.

I am not saying he is a bad player only that he is not good enough to take us forward. He deserves plenty of credit. The top teams in the league counter attack us at will. The Chelsea, United and Liverpool results justify this claim. We need a player who can disrupt the opposition when they break on us. Rodri is far too slow.

None of the players mentioned had to deal with the pace of the English league over 38 games.

Pep also signed Xabi Alonso at Bayern, who had no issue with the pace of the English league, mainly because it's not actually any faster than any other league as is lazily suggested. Sure, some individual teams in England have a lot of pace, but that's true of any country.

Pep wanted Jorginho before he got Rodri. The Jorginho that just won the Champions League Final despite his lack of pace. Rodri would have absolutely flourished next to Kanté and in front of a back three too.

The fact is we attack with a lot of players ahead of the ball and if we get caught out we get exposed, that has always been the case. But check our goals against column and it really doesn't look any different whether Rodri, Fernandinho or anyone else plays that role.

Rodri played the majority of the games this season including Liverpool and Chelsea away and Spurs at home during our unbeaten run

He would make an excellent CB.
