Ivan Toney

We all knew it was coming and, if I were the other relegation / lower table teams, I’d be quite angry he was allowed to play essentially the entire season with him having basically admitted the charges.

I'm still pissed off that he played against us earlier this season and scored twice, when these charges were being investigated. Should have been suspended immediately. Imagine removing his goals from when the charges were laid and see what that does to Brentford's results. Of course they would have replaced him, but he's their best player by a mile.

SIMPLE if you are found guilty of betting on games then it should be all over with any involvement in the game,

an 8 months ban does nothing as a deterrent in the future for players wanting to gamble, it's only seen as a slap on the hands by some age permitted, he's only 27 and will have good 4 or 5 years in the game

8 months seems crazy harsh to me. Ridiculous punishment.
Punishments in football do seem wildly inconsistent and random, but i wouldnt say this is lenient......as there were 260 charges.

Maybe other misdemeanours haven't been dealt with harshly enough? hence the shock at 8 months for this.

What betting stuff did he do that could be so heinous to get an eight month ban? I mean it goes on all the time with spot bets and throw ins at particular times, Xhaka and his dodgy sending off or whatever.

Oh look doesn't look like we'll need a result at Brentford now.

Banning starts immediately. Fuck off.

should of been harsher ,cant have footballers "insider trading"

They’ve not released details yet but I’d be amazed if there was any suggestion that he was trying to influence the outcome of any of his bets. Or the ban would have been much longer.

He was a lower league player for the majority of the time frame. Not an excuse. He knew the rules. But probably just sat at home, bored on a Sunday, having a bet on whatever games were on TV.

there is zero tolerance to footballers betting on any matches for a reason , im sure toney has been sat at home chilling watching a match, but whose is to say his old team mate hasnt given him the heads up on something, its fraught with problems
