Had enough of Sky, so I've cancelled. Now, I'm about to move to a tiny village with no fibre optic and very crap broadband (2Mb). What I'd like to know is: what are the options for getting the football on TV? I've no idea how any of these box thingies work, and I've no idea what else is out there.

I'd love some detailed advice - maybe you could advise me or point me to a suitable website?

Any advice gratefully received.

Be prepared to be fucking bombarded with phonecalls, emails, letters etc from the twats. They plagued me for months after i cancelled. Good luck with your new set up and let me know which you go for if you dont mind.

Believe me - even Sky won't find me where I'm moving to. It's essentially Royston Vasey but more remote.

It looks like I'm gonna give the Openbox a whirl (on account of it using the satellite dish and not requiring fast internet).

I'll post an update on here, once it's up and running.

I just ordered one off ebay, described as 'plug and play' - I'm assuming this means the gift is included.

One thing I just read about Openboxes incidentally, is that you won't get HD channels (something about Sky doing something to block it... Dunno). Can anyone confirm?

You dont get Sky HD channels.

You will get all the others including BTSport HD.

We really dont watch the movies on Sky anymore as we are so far ahead of them its crazy, so thats no big miss.

You will also get channels that wont appear on the Sky system, Irish channels so you get 3PM Saturday games, racing and boxing channels too are all there.

Its getting on to £90 for the full Sky and BT package now so I find the lack of HD a fair trade off ;-)

Cheers Fbloke.

I'm sure I read somewhere that you get American channels which show every Premier League game (including all Saturday matches). Is this true?
