Monday was a bad night. We backed off and backed off and got punished three times for it. Whether they were following Mancini's directions, or just had a collective 'mare, I don't know. We were crap and we got badly beaten. It was depressing, as almost every City defeats has been for the last 40 years, but I think some of the hyperbole on here has been a bit excessive.
Were we really so much worse than in the 0-6 at Chelsea and 1-8 at 'Boro under Sven? Were the players more clueless and were they less fit to wear the shirt than the players that got us relegated to the third division? If it's just that so much more is expected from such an expensively assembled team, then that should be noted: "that was the crappest performance I've ever seen from such an expensively assembled team, considering we're 4th in the league and pushing for a CL spot" is something we can probably all agree on.
To be fair, I've been thousands of miles away for some years now, so perhaps I don't really understand, but apart from being an annoying reminder of a bad game, why do people get so upset about the constant piss-taking of United fans? It sometimes seems like that's the biggest fear of many fans, and if that's how you feel, it must create tremendous stress when we lose. If you shot your mouth off after we beat Sunderland about how we were going to beat Liverpool and United, I can see why our appalling display would be especially hard to take.
Saturday's another day. We win or we don't. No one on here will have any impact on which way it goes, we just have to sit back and watch it unfold (unless you're reading this Roberto, in which case, best of luck, mate). And remember that no United fans are going to affect the result either. Not your neighbor, not some guy at work, not the knob-end at the pub. They either jumped on the band-wagon (well done) or were lucky enough to be born into a family that happened to support a team that was (or would become) extremely successful (well done again). So who gives a shit what they say?
And if we win, enjoy every minute, and then show your scum 'mates' how to handle victory with a bit of class.
