I agree with this. He was mint at Villa. I think he was a big fish in a shallow pond at Villa and for the most has been completely overawed here - Pep type play etc, he's a lovely lad bit not the sharpest IQ and I think struggled with adapting to Pep ball. Got better when Erl joined in the Treble season.

Be sorry to see him go as he is a good club ambassador, very popular with younger ( and lots of females!), but we need attack and commitment on the pitch and not sure he has that mentality currently.
He wasn't mint at Villa, he was more or less the same as he's been here, in terms of goals and assists.

Who is "we"

I presume you mean Pep Guardiola?

And if that's true your talking out of your backside.

Sane, Sterling, Doku, Mahrez and now Silvinho don't seem to have been told to restrict their games, so why has Grealish?
He is not a winger.
His best game for ages ( forest ) he played central.
It's your attitude towards posters that pisses me off most

In 8 seasons at Villa (including 1 in the Championship) he averaged 0.39 non-penalty goals and assists per 90 mins.

At City, that figure is 0.37 per 90 mins.

He's doing what he's always done, we just shouldn't have signed him.
Yeah, think I read that in his last season at Villa he scored 7 goals? As in, it’s not as if he was banging them in there either. His clips and show reels looked amazing though.

I think it’s true he went past players more for Villa than he does for us, but he was never a ‘goal-scorer’.

I seriously doubt he is going anywhere this window. Or that he or the club even want that.

I do think the summer is the time to go though, for his sake as much as anything.

I can't see anything changing now in the next 4-5 months, and after being a bit-part player last year, missing out on the euros, coming back 'determined' to prove himself (again), and still being a bit-part player - he needs to leave and get a season playing regularly if he wants to feature for England in the world cup.

Lets face it, it hasn't worked out. He has had maybe 6-9 months at most over 4 years where he has really had an impact. Overall over the years he has had less of an influence on games than bloody Zinchenko! Take the loss, get some/any money back, let him go and try prove himself elsewhere. A shame, as I really like the guy, and he is a decent squad player, but he can and should do more.

I don’t see any club buying him honestly. His wages are atrocious for what he actually does. Only thing that goes for him is the he is English. Nonetheless needs to leave in summer. Someone like Baéna might actually be free and even without him we should have enough players on the offense. you can see Bobb as his replacement.

My attitude, again who is the we?

The best manager of his generation? A manager that is on record in saying in the last third of the pitch it's up to the players what they do and how they do it.

His wages had to be big.
You can't sign a player for £100m and offer him a small wage.

If Grealish cost £30-40m we would not talk about him so much. Personally, it's not my money so I don't care about how much he cost.

For me, he's a been a solid signing. We have not had £100m of value but he has contributed to our success, no doubt. If you look at his goals, he has not contributed many but some of them have been 'heavy' goals.

I don't know what wages he is on, but whatever it was he signed on in 2021 as a top bracket, will likely be lower down these days relative to other wages. Shouldn't be as much of an issue as actually clubs wanting him and wanting to pay some fee.

In the sunmer he will have two years left on his contract. But another year like the last two or three here, wouldn't be good for him or his chances of going to the world cup. It wouldn't be an issue for us though, having him around another year.

Who knows how the summer will look in fairness. Kdb almost certainly leaving, Gundo too maybe, Kovacic a possibility, Bernardo wouldn't rule it out. Depending on who comes in Grealish may be good to have around and maybe some opportunities do open up for him here. If he can get some consistency and step it up over the next 4-5 months.

He reportedly earns between £270-300k a week which is big money for a player who hasn’t performed or regularly been fit in 2 seasons.

For reference with the two clubs he’s linked to, Everton and West Ham, Pickford and Bowen, their top earners, are reportedly on less than half of that.

So it’s gonna be a big issue, because those clubs are his level but his wages supersede his ability.

I really hope we don't do what the likes of Chelsea and the Rags do and start making players we want to sell training on their own. It's disgusting
Depends on the reasoning. Perception of it is similar to a kid being sent to isolation but Its not neccesarily a punishment to be made to train alone.

His future lies elsewhere, he will just want to get fit at this stage, the tactical sessions the coaching staff will do in pre-season are of no value to a player that wont be used so it's in his interests to train separately and work on what he needs to get a move away.
