Jack Grealish

I don't think this is deal we should be doing.

I love the fact that he wants to come here, but where does he play?

Phil has been magnificent, Gundo has revitalized himself, KDB just signed a new deal, Sterling may be out of form but we have been down this road with him before, he just needs to get his head right, Mahrez has been fantastic and we seem to have high hopes for Ferran.

So why spend upwards of 70M on a player that isn't a necessity?

If he comes, it’s because Pep knows how to use him. Does Pep seem to you all like a manager that wastes money on players he won’t be using?
And we have this discussion every two days. Multiple people have shown how he fits into the team, myself included. Especially with the number of games to be played increasing and some of our players not getting any younger anytime soon.
But it will be our manager’s call in the end. Not just looking at him, but also at who we have, who we plan to keep and for how long, and if homegrown options like Grealish that fit the mold of a Pep player and want us badly are easy to find or not.

It will also come down to whether Pep extended his contract with promises of an overhaul of our squad thinking short but also long term. And assuming we win a certain continental competition, he might be awarded in some ways.

If the club fears a transfer ban in the near future, with the ongoing lawsuits, it may be a good time to get a lot done

I totally agree.

Shocking as it may seem to you, we're in a public forum where people voice their opinions and thoughts, which is all I did in my post.

Asking obnoxious rhetorical questions isn't the way to convey a point.

But to answer your question no I do not believe Pep is a manager that wastes money, in fact, I believe he has been very astute in his spending on players.

My point is I don't believe this would be one of them. If he comes I trust Pep to figure it out, but as he has not arrived yet, I am questioning whether it would be a good use of funds when we have priorities elsewhere such as Striker, Left Back, and Center Mid if Fernandinho leaves.

I believe there are different things to discuss. Annoying as he can be sometimes, at least Ray’s dislike of Grealish is a valid point of discussion. Discussing the qualities of a player makes sense.
I am speaking for myself when I say that I find it pointless to discuss things that are beyond our reach. The decision of whether a player is needed is of the manager and very few people at the club and it involves things we may not even know.
For instance, in your previous post, you said “we seem to have high hopes for Ferran”. Which is obviously true, or he wouldn’t have been signed. On the other hand, it struck me as very odd that Pep said that the game yesterday was the FIRST time he saw Ferran being able to play in the PL. This late in the season. Against a below average Crystal Palace side.
The money thing is also something we talk because it allows for good discussions, but at the end of the day, most arguments about finances here struck me as extremely simplistic and flawed, as if it’s a matter of adding or subtracting numbers from players that left or are leaving and that’s it. The real math, too, we will never fully know. And, honestly, it’s not our money. The same way I trust Pep as a manager that doesn’t bring in players he doesn’t plan on using, I also trust our club to know what it’s doing financially. Until I see evidence of the contrary.

What is the price you think it will cost? Just curious
60m, I am certain when he signed a contract extension he would have insisted on a clause to allow him to leave at a reasonable price for all concerned.

I do not believe the club would pay anymore than 60m and talk of 100m is fantasy on the highest level.

Found it weird that Kane would just come out and say the rags should buy Grealish and Kane at any price! As he heard something?

I was asking because the other poster was alluding to an incredible amount of money that he would cost and I was just curious if his/her idea was rooted in reality or not

Let’s be clear, if they sign those two, they are title contenders next year. It’s as simple as that, even with Ole
