Youve got to have so many home grown players remember who else would you buy. Barry and lescott aren't getting any younger we've got hart, Milner, Richards and Johnson. Onuoha's gone so's Taylor and Bridge can be excluded. We have got to get a couple of British squad players and the truth is there's not much choice out there.

For the Premier League our 8 players we need to enable 25 man squad full entitlement to be taken are

Hart
Barry
Lescott
Clichy
Milner
Richards
Boyata
Johnson

If we sell any of the above they will have to be replaced with English Association players, so if we sold Johnson and replaced by Rodwell or Sinclair we are fine. Of course if we sold Dzeko a foreign player and replaced him with RVP he would also count in the above list. If we sold any of the above and didn't replce them like for like our squad size for prem league would be cut from 25 to 24.

In CL

we need four City academy trained players

We only have Richards and Boyata depending on date of birth so our maximum squad for CL will be restricted to 23.

I think he'd certainly be useful as a squad player, probably developing long term into a CB.

The only problem is he's a player you pay 10mil for maybe rising to 15mil if he makes national appearances, Champions League, etc. but that Everton would demand at least 20mil payed up front.

Mancini will have a primary list of targets, which by sheer logic wouldnt have included Rodwell. Now, for whatever reason, Marwood is unable to obtain those players, he will go for alternative players and i think that Marwood has a say in who those alternative players can be
