Jack Rodwell

It's just how Mancini manages his players. They all get a guaranteed start when they first come. It teaches the staff and the other players about them in a high pressure game situation and also introduces the fans to them. After that, as Gary Neville would say, the work starts now.

People tend to read long term thing into this; I wouldn't. He's a player who can cope in the PL but is not quite there in terms of CL quality. That's okay though, he's young and will come on leaps and bounds watching Gareth Barry, legitimately one of the smartest football players I've ever watched, and Yaya Toure, a man who has a perfect rhythm for attack and defence. Lots more to come from him, and he fit into our system well enough.

His early tackle to save the runner was nice, his passing was generally good and he covered his ground well. Excited for the future of him; we'll see his real worth come the ACON where he should slot into the Yaya role.

Nice piece Damocles, he will benefit hugely by being around these players all week, come Christmas he will be a totally different (and improved!) player and a valuable member of the first team squad - a nice piece of business in my opinion!

Poor debut by the young lad. What annoys me the most is not the pass that led to the goal, but that he didn't have the brain to just take the yellow card and stop their counter attack. And that goes for the other players close enough to just take the god damn yellow card and stop them.

Just baffling, its like the whole team turned their brain off.

4\10

Could have gotten a 6 if not for the pass who kinda ruined the whole game and let Southampton believe.

There is no way you can give him 7++, there is two players that maybe could get 7, and that is Tevez and Nasri.
Clichy and Yaya too, 7+

I watched him carefully and I be honest with you. I dont know what he does, I dont know what his strength is or which position he suits. Guess time will tell

I watched him too, TBH i saw nothing to excite me, as a Midfielder, but I did think his first contribution in a city shirt was outstanding, a sliding tackle that was inch perfect in the 18 yard box! He is comfortable on the ball and from my first viewing of him will never be a great holding M/F, but with a bit of time will be an exceptional C/H!!

What a great post. Common sense is here is always strange to see though.

Whats the latest on him....seems a forgotten man,,,,,Dont understand the logic behind this signing,,,
In training IIRC,
The logic is that Barry and Yaya won't go on forever, NDJ has left and Rodwell is a player with a lot of potential that we believe we can unlock.

I honestly believe he can become a very good player for us he just needs time to recover from this injury and be introduced slowly to the team. He has made mistakes but so has every player.
