Jack Rodwell

The guy has talent and I think we need to give him time to flourish. In 2-3 years time if he stays fit he will be a very good midfielder for city.

i said weeks ago that this lad has got it, if he stays fit he'll be the michael johnson we never had.

called up to england squad.well done jack

Seems a bizarre ball-up. Looked good y'day and has impressed when he has played but I don't think he's done enough to be called up for England

Anyone has a chance to get in the England squad these days

England is on its arse for players, you only have to be half decent these days to get a call up.

He has a decent chance. Should at least be a squad player. He is better than Cleverely anyway. Different player to Carrick, who is more of a holding player and then he is not as attacking as Gerrad and Lampard, altough they seem to drop deeper recently.

yes even Phil Jones has managed it

But can you see Phil Jones scoring a brace like Rodwell scored yesterday?

He's top quality. The only issue are the injuries. If he can overcome those, he can be a really top player for Manchester City.

I just hope he doesn't get injured because you can just see it happening.

Kidd was saying yesterday how few players can make the runs he does, he has the potential to be a top goal scoring midfielder, ala Lampard. Everything has "if he can stay fit" added to it though.

The comparison with Lampard is a good one. Rodwell is a little quicker maybe. I don't remember Frank ever running from the half-way line and smashing it in the corner.....maybe in his old days at West Ham it happened. As you say, got to stay fit. The good thing is that he managed to get to the end of the season and produce the goods which will be great for his state of mind. He knows he belongs at this level. All he has to do is carry on the work on his fitness

A great boost for Rodwell....he proved yesterday that he has great potential for the future.

Scored two decent goals yesterday, tbf the first one Dean Windass would've finished but second one was brilliant. However, defensively he was dreadful, constantly being caught out of position, got bypassed a fair few times as well. Two goals doesn't polish a defensively sub standard performance.
