Jacket Spuds

Microwaving a spud and calling it a baked potato is the kind of act which warrants a thrashing.

Oven on 190, 180 if fan assisted. Prick the spud loads then rub it in olive oil. A generous sprinkling of salt then put in for 90 mins, turning half way through. Comes out perfect, and the olive oil and salt makes the skin crunchy.

Serve with a salmon fillet, green beans and butter. MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I microwave them for 5 minutes either side...then wrap them in tin foil and put them in for about 20 minutes on 180. If you want them crispier, dont put foil round them!

I think you have just decided on my tea :)

Spot on.

Usually don't have the patience and resort to cutting them into wedges with olive oil, chilli flakes, black pepper, garlic powder, salt and paprika. 20-25 mins done. Lovely.

Micro for 6 mins per spud and then turn over and another 4 mins, which should result in a great evenly baked spud per side.
Split four ways, add butter, plus pepper and copious amounts of tuna or cheese/chives/spring onion and hey,the dish of the day.

1 chopped spring onion
1 finely chopped clove of garlic
1 diced rasher of bacon

Fry all these together in a tbsp of olive oil and then add your cooked green beans to the pan and mix together for one minute.

I guarantee this would make your already tasty sounding Salmon meal even better.

The BEST way to have green beans that mate.

From today's press

BAKED POTATOES ARE THE DIETER'S ENEMY

Potatoes release sugar rapidly into the blood which can encourage a surge in the fat storage hormone, insulin, which encourages the body to store fat. Different types of potatoes affect insulin in different ways. New potatoes raise your blood sugar levels less than older, maincrop potatoes because they contain less starch (which is, essentially, sugar). As a result, these older potatoes are not great for people who want to lose weight, despite all those diet sheets that seek to persuade us a baked potato is the slimmer’s friend.
