Whats it going to take to get his family to come to Manchester? Surely the club and Txiki can set this up, would be nuts if we lose him because of "homesickness".

maybe hes not homesick at all. tbh if the dortmund rumour is true, from his point of view, it could be a great move as they play youngsters a lot. i think this might be more about seeing a path into the first team ( just a guess though). it would be a huge blow to lose one of the best young talents we have.

Well if its true about him going to Germany it's a shame(not just because of the poor form with the homesick excuse) because he's a player all of City had high hopes for especially with all the hard work gone into players like him at the academy, it would be a bit of a kick in the teeth for all involved in his progress to see a player to decide to just up and leave the first chance he gets when he's been offered a contract at City.

I suppose, even though it's rare to see a player as good as him come through, for every one that doesn't repay the faith and effort put into developing him, there will be those that give their all to get into the first team and then for the shirt because of it, we hope anyway or there is no point to having a world class academy any more if it only benefits other teams.

Keeping top top young players must be a very difficult task even if they can see a route to the first team. So much money in football plus shadowy agents and managers with secret agendas and alliances....

Wow what the hell are you saying, freaking read your own comment before you post, complete and utter nonsense.

Obviously if he plays for England he will travel for games, but it pales in comparison to the amount of time he would spend at home, and hence would like to spend more time in London than Manchester. Christ... common sense is not for some people apparently.
Trying to be a gobshite are you?
Clearly living over the pond has addled your brain, you certainly are a no nothing when it comes to the life of a footballer.
Try not to jump into adult conversations anymore, there's a good boy. Or just take your own advice.

Don't think he said that.
Genuine concern this.
I think he may have mentioned it?
It's homesickness which isn't necessarily even football related which makes it more worrying

He misses London apparently.

The homesickness thing is true. 100%. You can not buy it if you don't want to, but it isn't made up. He misses London. Hopefully we can find a way around it.

All that moved away from trouble stuff sounded like a 16 year old romanticising a bad boy image tbh. Relative nonsense.

Nope. Pro deal on the table but not signed it yet.

Genuinely worrying this one.

I never said he's leaving, just that it's very possible. It's a genuine possibility which the club are taking very seriously.

If he goes abroad I don't think that there is an obligatory development fee

If he moves in the UK expect a development fee between 4 and 5 million based on the Campbell award. Campbell was not on scholarship terms

Yeah it's because of this. City set a contract signing deadline. Wasn't met.

That sounds like very negative news then. Quite a big carrot City have dangled with an opportunity to tour the US with the first team and show Pep you are potentially worth a squad place and there is also a contract there for you...

To miss that deadline suggests he is probably off. If his heart isn't in it to stay with us then he needs to go and we have to wish him the best. Can't blame the kid for feeling a bit homesick. Although I thought he was happy to "escape" London initially...

Would have loved seeing him get some time on the pre-season tour though.

Cheers.

Very bad news then.

Yes, but I think there's a point where enough is enough and Pep seems to have reached that point.

As people have said over the last few pages, he's been offered the biggest contract any 17 year old in history has been offered. He's been promoted as fast as possible at every opportunity. He's been involved in first team training a lot from the age of 16 and he's been offered a place on the preseason tour.

Check Spurs/United/Liverpool/Chelsea's touring parties - there aren't any players from Sancho's age group on tour. I don't think any of them get to train with their first team regularly like Sancho does.

So if he's not happy after being so pampered, perhaps it's time for a tougher stance? Perhaps a reminder that we have some other very talented players who will have the time of their lives on tour, and might work their way into some games on tour and some more cup appearances in the autumn.

And if he goes, he goes, you have to take the stance that our scouts will find more very talented players like Sancho, and our coaches will work with them like Sancho and as good as he is, he's not a one-off.

There aren't many who have the talent of Sancho, though. If he goes overseas then I think fair play to him. If he misses London and goes there, the same I guess.

He is the one who is supposed to show how the academy is 'working'.
