Be a shame if he goes, he's spectacularly talented, however at this stage it's just potential. He's not a kicked a ball in senior football, for me the wages mentioned are obscene. I have no problem with pro-players getting big money, it's a global game, high pressure, short career etc etc, it's fair enough the pay reflects that i reckon, but you should have to at least earn it.

Good luck to him if he does leave, he could be a genuine English superstar.

Do you know how long he is signed up to us for? I would have thought if he was out of contract then he would be able to leave immediately. It does sound as if we will lose him. Hopefully, we get a decent price for him.

He's out of contract now. I.e - he needs to sign a pro deal. He can do whatever he wants now.

Spurs dont pay any 17 year old more than a few thousand a week Levy would choke on his cornflakes if he had to pay a 17 year old 30k a week. So Chelsea its is then.

I thought Arsenal were strongly linked with him? Not sure if his wages elsewhere will be as high as we'd offer him. I think this is a homesick for London and pathway to first team move.

Pep's praise for Foden included: "and he's a City fan." A telling remark...genuine blues will stick with it. Who said " If City sell me, I'll do everything to make them buy me back" ? Recruit locals wherever possible. No bigger City fan than a Doyle.

Wasn't that Celina who said that? Hardly local but fair fucks to the lad, great attitude.

IF Pep could get some time with him, he could be an amazing player. His advisor's need to remember he's just a kid and get him to sign up for a couple more years. Re-evaluate after.

Could he get a decent signing on fee from a London club?

Not sure how your first pro contract works.

Not sure this is true is it? Did he not sign a 2 year scholarship last summer?

I thought he had one year left on that deal but obviously it doesn't tie you down as much as a professional contract does.

Then I find it strange why he hasn't done that if he has rejected our contract offer.

My understanding is that he has, but maybe he's agreed a deal and not signed it yet. Either way, will take a Dave Bassett style change of mind for him to be in a City shirt come August

Foden mentioned he was called up at the last minute to the US tour and that because of this his Mum had to rush to the airport to drop his passport off for him, maybe they weren't all guaranteed a spot on the tour in the first place as reported?

It does sound like he has turned down the offer. I am just surprised he is still with us if he really does want to leave. Maybe he is in two minds about leaving or staying even now. Hopefully, the fact Phil played this morning, may get him to have second thoughts.

I think his family are just exploring their options, don't think he's definitely decided to go.

Come on City Watch, who's side are you on?

For what it's worth I think Pep has handled this right, we want to keep him but if we bend over backwards for a player who thinks it should just be given to him(he'll not get any guarantees at any top 6 team) then it will send the wrong message to the rest of the academy, reward people like Foden instead. Regardless of his talent he's got a lot of work to do wherever he goes... even from players his own age wanting to break through.

I bet he's noticed the buzz around Foden today and having a good think about it and if he does sign then it shows he is willing to put faith in City as the best place for him so all is forgiven.

And Guardiola being so positive about Foden in the media.

Seing as Sancho & not Foden, was the star of the young England team, he must surely now be thinking "that could have been me" & that he could have been as good at least (even if he maybe wouldn't have been as good).
