Jadon Sancho

Shown him that previous players have had first team opportunities if they've excelled in the academy or on loan. Guys like Barker, Denayer, Roberts, Maffeo, etc. needed to get a chance or two.

Losing Sancho is the cost of the mismanagement of those players.
Pep stated that he did everything in his power to persuade him to stay, including offering him a wage way beyond his experience/status deserved.

It would be different if he was still here though and gettin opportunities. If he was in form like now I’d potentially have him over Mahrez.

However it’s a first team squad now and every player has a chance. Can you never change or drop first team players for young players ?? Are you telling me that’s never happened before and we should never do that?

Btw I’m not saying play young players from the start every game. But right now other then foden none of our young players for the last 6 years maybe have actually had a proper chance in our team. If we can never drop/ bring in youth players as you suggest then we’ll never have a youth player as a regular starter.

Sometimes when they are talented enough you just need to give them a start or more minutes. Ie trust them. Or more like foden will leave

Foden has not left...Sancho has.

Where do I suggest that Youth players should not be brought in? We were discussing Sancho, not the EDS as a whole. I am a huge advocate of giving youth an opportunity and have criticised City in the past.

Once again I reiterate that Sancho and his advisors decided THEMSELVES that there was no pathway at City for Sancho. He was 17 and we got £8m for him I believe AND we have a Sell on clause.

Oh and Mahrez is better. Bit silly to compare a previous Player of the Season with a proven pedigree to a promising youngster who happens to be flavour of the month with the media, especially as a stick to beat CITY with.

Let's just say that Sancho turns out to be the real deal and becomes a Star elsewhere. So what? Doesn't stop City and people need to realise what our stature as a Top Club means. I sincerely hope that we find others like Foden but you should be aware that a player needs to be very, very special to even get a look-in.

Finally, you state that Sancho could possibly be starting now for us. He clearly didnt think so, did he? So at 17 years old, he decided to try his luck elsewhere. His choice.

He has moved on pity others won't.

Yes, and Sancho showed that he cares more about his career progression than his wage packet by moving to Dortmund - a club with a strong recent history of playing and developing youngsters.

Losing Sancho is a symptom of the failure of City to integrate academy players in the first team. If we want that symptom to go away (as the enormous wages Sancho was offered would suggest we do), then we need to fix that failure. We're making some inroads with Foden, but I fear Diaz will be off too.

Thats Sancho's choice though as has been explained. We cant just start including 17 yr old kids because they otherwise threaten to go elsewhere.Foden has chosen to stay and he is being integrated correctly and its paying off.

Ive said it before, but we arent Everton or even a Dortmund....this club has the worlds best players in its matchday squad, any kid has to be a worldy and he has to show the right attitude and an amount of patience.Thats how we roll now.

And again, I don't think Sancho should have been given assurances of game time.

But he's left because others who deserved chances didn't get them and he didn't want to join that roster.

He's gone and there are other fish in the sea, but we'll lose them too unless we start to integrate some kids.

That only supports @CityStu point he is making. Wages was not a factor so it was clearly something else such as the likelihood of him receiving game time and what had preceded him.

I do know, from reading your posts, your pretty well versed in this subject Fantasy so I do respect your opinion on this subject.

Sancho took a gamble and it looks like its paying off for him, but other players could take the same gamble and never get back to a club at our level.foden is gambling the other way by staying and working his way slowly into our team Sancho could have taken the same route. There isn't a right or wrong players have to decide for themselves hopefully with good advice.
Players probably need to look at who's blocking their progression and the ages of those players. Foden can see Silvas age and see an opening maybe Sancho couldnt with Sane and Sterling. Gunn would have been similar , not seeing a way past Ederson.

We will definitely lose others, but we will get money and we'll include clauses.

Sancho should have shown more patience IMO,but he chose a path that has proven a good one.

That statement just underlines why we lost Sanchi.
Dortmund are top of the bundesliga, and top of their champions league group.
They are ahead of, and just beat Bayern - both teams have schooled us in recent years.

If a 17 year old is good enough for them, he is good enough for us.
