It's part of being a manager. It's called good management, leaving a legacy etc. Would have done his rep no harm at all. Look at the credit Poch gets for playing the odd kid here and there. People rate him higher than Pellegrini, despite MP winning the league, so I guess it wasn't really worth giving Demichelis 10 mins every week in the end. If anything, there was a strong case to say he limited his own options and hampered himself tbh.
Was that Pellegrini though? He showed at Malaga he was happy to blood youngsters.
Now at West Ham, he’s building his side round Rice & Diangana. I watched them vs Burnley, they were both excellent.
I fully agree, it’s often frustrating when senior players get what seem like pointless minutes. But as most managers including Pep seem to constantly do it.
There must be a reason why, my money is on squad harmony.
We may think 10 minutes for Denichellis or Kompany is pointless, but I doubt they or the squad do. Not to mention, the fact that the older players need to keep up to speed and 15/20 minutes may be key to that for all we know.
