Jahmai Simpson-Pusey

Looked like he belonged, stand out despite such a short cameo. Academy defenders tend to be great on the ball but don’t do much defending as part of their development, so that moment where he stepped up on Solanke encouraged me. Could be one that properly makes the step up in a few years to be proper first team player if development goes well.

Are his family not from Yorkshire? Dads brother full on Scouse lad
He's been at the club for a long, long time and has always been highly regarded. He is a front foot defender with good technique and an ability to bring the ball out of defence and release it with accuracy. He definitely has a shot at a successful career in the game. He is also very strongly built for his age and possibly already has the physical presence to cope, as does Callum Doyle whose loans have been consistently excellent.
We seem to produce a lot of good CB's in the academy, all capable of playing out from the back, bringing the ball forward etc.

I think this is the nature of how the club plays in the same way from senior to junior, and also possibly because as defenders they don't have to defend as much as some at other clubs development squads will, something of a chicken and egg situation, of having more time on the ball with slow build up, and not many teams attack us.

It's a pity we don't seem to develop quite as good DM players from the system, because they would be worth their weight in gold, if we could bring one right through to the first team. We all had hopes for Tommy Doyle ( think that was more sentiment), but he'll have a good career just not with City.

Was pleasantly surprised how seamlessly he fitted in.

If you ever watch the youth games in recent years especially city v United it is easy to see some city youth making it at a top grade club. United on the other hand their youth has not looked very good. Yet they put youth into the first team and they seem to adapt quickly and look part of the first team. That has not been so easy for youth from city. Simpson-Pusey bucked that trend in this game. Well done that lad!

Possibly because of the vastly different qualities of the players in City's team compared to the level of rag players.

Adapting to lesser standards must be easier for them , and bearing in mind that they have " come through their youth team set-up as boyhood supporters " allied to the fact that they are " all the next best .................." and destined to be the best in the world within weeks .
