Operation Carwash prosecuted
corrupt individuals from both sides and unveiled one of the biggest corruption cases ever, all under the leadership of Lula's government.
For the first time, Brazil arrested influential politicians and powerful businesspeople.
Over
R$25 billion (£4.1 billion) of corruption funds, which had been embezzled by corrupt individuals and companies, were recovered through plea deals.
Just like the Congress, our Supreme Court is run by people who have their own interests. Lula had two processes annulled in 2019:
1. One of them was because Sergio Moro was considered "biased" based on hacked messages that indicated that Moro didn't like Lula, but there was no evidence or indication that he tampered with the judicial process in any way. Our Constitution says that illegally obtained evidence cannot be used against anyone, in any shape of form. But they did it anyway.
2. The second one was anuled because the Supreme Court found out (600 days later!) that Lula was judged in the wrong jurisdiction: "he should not be judged in Curitiba city, he should actually be judged in Brasília." The funy thing is: over a year before, the same Supreme Court judges also
authorized Lula's arrest as they have not found any irregularity and actually found him guilty.
The other guy said Lula is a leftist and you respond like this. How did you come to such conclusion?
Lula
is left wing but that's not the issue. The thing is he's one of those despicable leaders who have dangerous ideas and loves to show support to dictators.
