Jamal Khashoggi

There is a horrendous account in the Guardian re this, apparently the Turkish secret service have either previously bugged the embassy or had a directional microphone trained on it, they have audio evidence that captures his screaams as they cut off his fingers and then, possibly whilst he is still alive, dismember him.

Imagine being the person who first listened to it, will haunt you for life. I hope this doesn't get forgotten about, and that we have sold the Saudis all dodgy weapons we can disable when we bring them some freedom.

One member of the hit squad walked out of the consulate dressed in Khashoggi's clothes with a fake beard later in the day.

The Saudi's need a major distraction from this. Even Trump's support isn't helping them much at the moment. I think there's a real possibility that they will ease off the attacks in Yemen as a demonstration to the world that they are not a bunch of bloodthirsty butchers in order to try and stop any possible sanctions on their arms purchases.

This will be a test of the integrity of the US intelligence community.

There is public domain evidence pointing to the fact that the guy was butchered inside the embassy (audio recordings). The intel community will have this evidence, and likely other stuff at a higher classification.

Unsurprisingly, the narrative from the Saudi's and the President differ vastly from what we know already. So where does this leave the US intel community?

Well, they can either say nothing (probably what they should do), or they can just nod along with Trump, in which case they loose any shred of credibility they have.

There is a third option, but it would involve somebody having a crisis of conscience and blowing the whistle to the press, which, if you believe the rumours in this case is why Khashoggi was "dispatched" in the first place.

Call me cynical if you want but i think Turkeys part in all this is disgraceful. They clearly have all the evidence to show he was tortured, murdered dismembered and then disposed of but they keep stringing out leaks to the press just to keep the Saudis and the U.S. dangling. They are clearly negotiating with both countries behind the scenes. Whether that is for money or more political/religous clout is not clear but what is clear is they don't give tuppence for a murdred man and are only looking after themselves.

Of course Turkey are using this to their own advantage and leveraging it for maximum gain. That's how it works.

Sadly I fully accept that. I make the point because everyone is knocking the Saudis for being murderers and Trump for not wanting it to effect jobs re arms sales. Turkey is simply playing the same two faced game and it is why politicians are despised the world over. Yes you have to think about jobs, lay off 500 Americans from a lost arms deal and there is shit to pay but an innocent man has been brutally murdered and Turkey sits there playing the Truth and Justice card. Bastards the lot of them.

At the end of the day, nothing Turkey or the US has done in relation to this compares to chopping off someone's fingers, torturing him to death then chopping up his body for disposal - all pre-meditated. Saudi are way at the top of the list of countries that need to be criticised with the US a distant second for supporting the Saudi's ludicrous cover story. The Turks are definitely playing this to their own advantage but many countries would do the same.
