James h Reeve

Hi James,

I grew up listening to your City coverage on 1152 back in the 80's, on the way to & from matches when I was a kid.

I also used to love the Sunday morning Junior Blues meetings in the old Social Club that you used to compere, & one of my earliest memories is getting given a glass tankard commemorating Paul Power's testimonial year, which I'm pretty sure you gave to me.

Just wanted to say what a shame it is that you're not on radio much these days, as you used to be brilliant value on matchdays (although the fact that an 8 year old kid used to think you were very funny, perhaps says more about your sense of humour than mine)!!!

I've just read through the link you posted about the shenanigans surrounding your departure from GMR, & all I can say is that the suits at the Beeb conspired to deprive Manchester of one of it's very best radio presenters. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me at all!

Looking at the way you were hauled over the coals without being afforded your right to proper representation, I'd have thought you would have had a pretty solid case for wrongful dismissal, although I don't know whether that's just me speaking in 2012's litigious culture.

Anyway, enjoy the game tomorrow, & thanks for your part in contributing to my early experiences as a city fan.

Oh, and don't be such a bloody wimp man - sod Heaton Park strolls, you need to watch our biggest game since the 60's tomorrow & the boys on the pitch need every one of us supporting them! #together!!!

Where are you at the minute? Will you be watching tomorrow?

I'm in the back bedroom on me computer. What's that got to do with it?

I don't know whether I can bear to watch. Couldn't face the derby - hid until it was over. Friend of mine in Oxford says she's taking the dog for a 2-hour walk tomorrow afty, then going to look on the Beeb website with one eye closed and the other screwed up. I might walk round Heaton Park. Not too far from the toilets.
I meant what station.

You have to watch mate. One of the biggest games in years. I think you would find it hard to keep yourself from watching.

James , the day after the 99 play off game, you were walking across london bridge, and you spotted my then 7 yr old son in his city shirt. You in no uncertain terms told him that i'd "brought him up proper" and no matter we did as a club in the future "even win the champions league" we'd never forget what we 'd witnessed the day before !!!!
wish you all the best and wish we could still listen to you on the radio,
c'mon CITY

Yes, it's true I almost chucked up in the bushes at Styal Woods last week getting my phone out of my pocket every 10 seconds and dying a thousand deaths until the goal went in. But, I am suffused with a sublime serenity about tomorrow. I will be watching it this time, and by God, you should do the same...

Bad news James. George Michael is currently making his way up North as we speak after hearing that news.

I remember when we beat the Rags 5-1 and James and Sweeney was on Piccadilly and Reevesy said something along the lines of 'if the grim reaper comes for me tonight i'll go a happy man' pissed myself laughing.

Best dj on local radio ever.

the prestwich and whitefield meetings at heaton park was always funny as don price, with maybe one or two cheeky pints inside him,was always trying to pinch the mic off james h.....

great down to earth dj with the most distinctive voice on radio, god bless you mate and let`s hope we`re having a party this time tomorrow night...

Great radio guy,dry wit, true Blue best wishes to you James.Your style is missed from banal radio shows these days.

I loved the late night phone-ins on Key 103. I phoned up twice and passed the phone to my dad, who was an RE teacher in Wythenshawe. He tried to persuade JHR to abandon his atheistic views. The result was a stalemate, and JHR closed the second call respectfully by calling my dad an 'intellectual gymnast'.

It was great that James was an erudite Blue. One of the things that gave us a precious advantage over United was having a fan who couldn't be belittled by any red.

Stanage was good, but James H Reeve was legendary. Thanks James.
