Very best of luck to him, but I haven't seen anything special from him and feel it's right that he should move on and get game-time - hopefully.

Mind you, I did say the same about Palmer.
Palmer was always far more talented.

Couldn't quite see it in him from the time he got, but to be fair he hardly had a consistent run at it. What I can say is that he was involved in goals quite a lot when he did play and that's not an accident. Has a knack of knowing where to be.

Unfortunately I think a move is he best option for him, but this could be one we also put in the category of 'should have kept him' quite easily. He's England U21 captain too in a championship winning team, clearly has a lot more about him than just on the field.

Good move for everyone, but another frustrating one to see a proper city lad go on elsewhere to succeed, especially now with Savinho being looked at by spurs.

When you look at the money we have spent in the last 12 months, I can’t help but think it shouldn’t have been beyond the wit of man to find a way to incorporate McAtee into our side, and maybe just bought one less big signing.

Palmer, now McAtee. What is the point of our academy producing top class talent if we then sell them very cheaply and instead spend twice as much on players from abroad?

I love Pep, and stand behind him 100%, even on this reluctantly, but he does appear to have a huge blind spot with bringing through the kids.

I’m disappointed that another academy graduate has been fucked off, in my opinion (for what it’s worth) prematurely.

Tough choices made, and nothing gives me more pleasure than local talent rising to the top.
Foden, Lewis, O'Reilly, and Bobb is probably as good as it gets at the top level (academy to (we hope) regular appearances).
I think it is just that in the attacking areas, James is probably a little off what we have.

Most Academy players will not make it in the PL, a few will be good enough, even fewer will be good enough to play in a title challenging team.

But the problem they all have is the lack of game time in the first team, they get given a few chances and have to prove from day one they are good enough already otherwise they will not get enough games to develop and find their place, as the club needs to win.

McAtee has talent, but would you really say he deserves a place now above others on the bench? Personally dont think he's good enough for us, but I thought that about Palmer. Neither of which did enough for us to justify dropping a player who performed better for us. Good luck to him, and the fee will run the academy for another few years.

we should have sold him last summer for higher fee imo given how little he was featured despite lots of injuries. played a tiny bit more 2nd half of the season, did well in few games to, odd goal here and there, but wasnt something imo we would have missed if we let him go that time. maybe Echeverri would have been thrown in few times more rather than just FA final.
