I’m trying to think if we have any other players in the squad about whom you could also say “he doesn’t really have a position”?

I think all players have positions, it’s just a question of whether, even though supremely talented, they perhaps, unfortunately for them, aren’t quite as supremely talented as some of the other players we are lucky enough to have in those positions. If you think about where this team sits in the English/European football hierarchy for want of a better word, and the expectations at the club now that go along with that, there’s absolutely no shame whatsoever in not being quite there for us.

As everyone else has said, good luck James.
Rico is the obvious other example. One in progress is Marmoush.

McAtee just hasn’t affected games much when he’s had his chances with us and Sheff Utd. He scores a decent amount of goals in his game time, but goes missing far too often in games at the moment to warrant a squad place.

The rest he can learn in a less intense environment; being in the right place is one thing that he has naturally. He will do well, and it's sad to see him going. However, best of luck, James McAtee; go and get your full England cap. I hope you come back soon, lad.

When you look at the money we have spent in the last 12 months, I can’t help but think it shouldn’t have been beyond the wit of man to find a way to incorporate McAtee into our side, and maybe just bought one less big signing.

Palmer, now McAtee. What is the point of our academy producing top class talent if we then sell them very cheaply and instead spend twice as much on players from abroad?

I love Pep, and stand behind him 100%, even on this reluctantly, but he does appear to have a huge blind spot with bringing through the kids.

I’m disappointed that another academy graduate has been fucked off, in my opinion (for what it’s worth) prematurely.
Blind spot.

Buy back and a sell-on with a decent fee is very good business. Hope he excels and improves - needs to show more authority on games.

His knack for goalscoring is great and will stand him in good stead.

Neither did Palmer tbf, barring that one cup game against Swindon or whoever
Didn’t he get man of the match in the super cup?

But yea Palmer never looked great and now look at him.

Whether it’s chances or not playing under the pressure of Pep what he’s done at Chelsea I don’t think he would have ever done here. I hope McAtee does well.

Good fee overall and nice to see there's a buy back clause. Hope he flourishes at Forest, best of luck Macca!
