I can understand where you are coming from regarding playing styles but I don't think Sheffield United are as bad as many posters painted them. A team like Swansea might have given McAtee a platform to play a more cultured brand of football but they finished 25 points short of the Blades and, with the greatest respect, I don't think McAtee would have improved them enough to get anywhere near the automatic promotion spots.I think there where sides in the championship that would of suited James more.As shows in his poor performances at the start of the season (neck ache) I think James is one of the best young midfielders in the country.yes Heckingbottom still gave him opertunities when he hadn't played well think that was more down to the way su play and what where his other option's ill play that other lad he can kick the ball even further than that other player .I also think with two loanees from city they took playing time of each other I don't care if su got promoted or not only what would of been the better loan option
What is great about the loan was that both lads were immersed in a high stakes situation during the run in which will be similar to what they experience with City if they graduate to the first team squad. Also having a promotion on your record is a good thing for wherever their future career takes them.
I am really happy with last seasons loans as our lads made big contributions to teams that were either promoted or made the play-offs - Burnley, Sheffield Unity, Coventry, Bolton. This should make securing loans for our lads for the coming season easier - if you want promotion borrow a Blue! :)
