James Milner

I have to admit, I was sceptical about the price tag, but that becomes irrelevant if he plays like that all season.
And the few decent Villa fans I've spoken to say he performs t a high standard consistently, one said that last nights performance was typical, if not BELOW his normal standard!

Well i can't believe there isn't a thread already made about the lad on here tonight! where is everyone?

I was hoping for him to play on the right, he started on the left which had me scratching my head a little, eventually he drifted out to the right and within 30 seconds of doing that we opened them up, scored and milner had a hand in the goal.

tonight he was up there with barry for MOTM, he was superb, even at 3-0 he was sprinting and doing whatever he could to win the ball back, even on the left he looked comfy and i can't recall him losing the ball once all game, his passing and first touch was perfect, his movement and general awareness of things around him to spot on, him and toure just played off each other all night and everytime each player knew where everyone was, some of the one touch passing in the centre between the midfield 2 and wingers was unreal,

never been what you would call a big fan of Milner, always rated him as a good player and nothing more than that, after tonight i've seen a different player, this lad could have a BIG role in our season if he keeps it up, hopefully he will excel himself with us,

once again the milner/johnson wing swapping option is available, great thing to have, i hope he plays again thursday, i can imagine milner creating a perfect partnership with silva.

IMO tonight was one of the best debut performances i've seen from a city player in all my time of watching city for the last 16 years, he couldn't of started anymore perfect than he has done!

epic performance, tek a bow son.

Bob knew what he wanted and got his man..last night was proof of what Jimmy is all about..

Well played, great debut.

agree with all on here!! thought milner was top class last night in every department.he run his socks off, created space, tackled hard and well and kept and used the ball superbly!! could be the best buy of the lot yet!

I ended up boring myself on here telling people that the lad was a class act and would be a crowd favourite alongside Carlitos by Christmas because he's just that kind of player.

Unfortunately, I got it wrong and I apologise.

He'll reach that status by October.

Fantastic debut. Good touch, awareness, skill and high energy levels.

I think Milner will help to provide greater variety for set pieces than we have seen for a long time. I love his awareness and ability to look for openings and being available for the ball.

Don't think he is available for Thursday or was he registered in time?

Deserves all the plaudits he has been getting of late, an absolutely dynamite debut. While many are forgotten, this is one of those City players I can see being talked about fondly years and years down the line.

Keep it up kid.

:)

Great debut and performance from him; I was really impressed with him, seeing that it was his first match!!!

His impact was felt yesterday; looking forward for his first goal for us and plenty of assists from him!!

To be honest; I was more impressed with Barry performance. I've always rated him; and he was "sparkling" more in our last match!!! For me, he was MOM.

i must admitt i kept saying i didnt want him because of the price tag but soon got over that when he signed

love the fact he is like Tevez never stops running chasing EVERYTHING down

2 points i can remember when he ran and blocked someones shot outside the penatly box
and when he tried to keep the ball in play with an overhead kick

Milner = quality :)
