The arsehole of the country wishing I wasn't here
I'm getting more and more impressed with this guy..

I must admit I wasn't massively keen for us to sign him in the first place, but I thought he played really well today, Did a hell of a lot of work today, Hit the bar with a cracking effort, fantastic last ditch tackle in the penalty area in which he took a hell of a blow and helped Bridge out no end with his tracking back.

I was also very impressed with the way he comes out for the interviews post match, and loved the way he upset Sky by calling them and other journalists 'You lot' when they were obviously trying to get him to slag off Adebayors poor showing.

Whats staggers me is the fact he is still only 24, could go on to be a great player for us for a long long time to come

Well played fella

Not the most technically gifted of players but my god he puts in a shift. When you are not performing well its that kind of work rate, plus the odd moment of genius from a Silva or Tevez that wins you games.

Agreed, good post I was really impressed with his debut against liverpool and thought he was poor then on until today... looks much more assured in the centre and when silva came on he created space for milner and made him look a better player.

I don't think he played very well today but maintain he is or will be a fantastic signing. But he just isn't a winger, at least not in the effective sense. He will put a shift in no matter where he is played but we will only see him at his best in the middle. I wonder if Balotelli will be pushed to the left (where he often played for Inter) when he comes back, leaving Milner to move to the middle and fight for one of three places with Yaya/Barry/De Jong/Vieira, while Johnson and Silva continue to fight for the other (Tevez up front alone, at least unless we sign Dzeko, but with much more support with Balotelli).

I agree that he us sound with the media. Really offended twatty Keys with his " you lot" statement. I think this shows the siege mentality of the squad it needs as we get into the muck and bullets of the season.

Might have singed from the same league, but he's playing a total different style of football now compared to Villa, will take to time to get into sync.

Early days yet for Milner at the club. I honestly think the pricetag is playing on his mind at the moment. Today it didnt work for him for most of the game up until Silva came on then it clicked for him. I dont think he will be a ever present in the team when everyone is fit and ready to go. I feel this may be a signing in the end that will just be a squad player signing. A bit unfair to Milner but sadly he wont out muscle the central regulars and out wide it is only a matter of time before Silva and Johnson are tried in the wide areas together.
