James Milner

still reckon he's a centre mid man.

In a team with title aspirations? Hell no.

We need him to support Zabba as the Everton left looks like their most dangerous. That and getting tight on Lukaku [which he doesn't seem to like]. A good scrape on his achilles should do it.

The one thing you can never question is his commitment. The lad just runs, and runs, and runs.

He is a typically British player. Commitment can't be faulted, therefore fans tend to overlook his more limited abilities on the ball. Then you have 'johnny foreigner', aka garcia or demichelis, who get slagged off something rotten for the odd slip up and their perceived lack of effort.

I actually think that you need a blend of players, with different attributes.

put in a massive effort, as usual, but didn't play particularly well. He did what was needed to be done.

Yesterday was the perfect game for Milner. Away to a hard working team with mainly British players is the game for Milner.

Home to bottom of the table Sunderland where you need that extra bit of guile isn't the game for him.

Next weekend away to Everton - Milner must start.

I thought he was very good yesterday. He works unbelievably hard and helps the team so much in those sort of games.

I thought he was exceptional in the first 30 minutes when we were at our best. Workrate was high and he was really putting pressure on them. Slowed a bit in the last hour, but he did a tremendous job of closing out and not giving Palace time on the ball early and it helped us to really pin them back and probe.

Those two generally get slagged of for being slow as fuck.
