James Milner

I can't she why so many are surprised by his performance its allways been there, just unused due to bad management.
For me he is the perfect player in any team we play one of the first names on the sheet

Amazing performance from him, but he needs to consistently perform like that if he is to nail that spot ahead of Nasri. Last season I remember he put in good performances but then the next performance was nowhere near as good.

He can build on it. I wouldnt drop him for the next game. More of a chance Yaya gets dropped than Milner as he has showed a lot more than Yaya has in recent weeks. I think Milner is out there now trying to win himself a new contract or putting himself firmly in the shop window and saying look this is what I can do week in week out and a number of teams will be looking at him. I hope his contract gets sorted as he is a seasoned pro who gives a hell of a lot that most teams and top teams need to have apart of there squad.

Completely agree. Was fantastic yesterday, and your instinct is that he should be one of our most consistent performers, but frustratingly the truth is that he is one our most inconsistent.

Against the top sides he offers so much more than Nasri as his performances over the start of this season and last proved. When he is on form like he is today he is one of the best players you could have in your side. Superb.

Nasri's offered nothing, absolutely nothing of late. Drab, predictable, slow, tedious and depressing. I'm not even gonna say he's behind Milner and Navas - I just wouldn't play Nasri at the moment. Resting on his laurels again and needs to sort himself out. He's had a big break over summer with no world cup and we were relying on the likes of him and the other non WC players to get us going from the start. He's let us down again

I don't get this "he might not be as technically gifted as Nasri, but...." garbage.

He might not look as natural/arrogant with his game, but he is technically better at being in the correct position, making the correct runs, picking the correct pass, taking the ball past a man, intercepting, tackling, harrying and generally winning possession back. They are similar in shooting ability, and I have no idea re heading ability...

At the end of day, he is head and shoulders more effective and important for and to the team, in my opinion. If that doesn't make him technically better than Nasri, then I have no idea what would.

To beat Vinnie to MOTM today required some fooking performance, hats off to him!

A gooner mate of mine sent me this from the Arsenal Forum March 2011.

"who ever said this guy was a playmaker must have been talking about his work in theatre.

always ignores our forward's 'off the shoulder' runs in favour of taking extra touches which amount to a sideways pass or him losing possession, and that's after he's given the opposition all the time in the world get bodies behind the ball."

That was one of his best games in a City shirt, IMO

Hard to argue against his inclusion anymore. Nasri is technically superior but has been mentally checked out so far this season. Milner at least influences the game.
