James Milner

The only reason for Milner not to sign a new contract is financial.

If City are asking him to take a real pay cut then he would have cause not to sign the contract; otherwise it is a case of him wanting a big signing on fee when he leaves on a free.

If Milner had a longer term contract but felt he needed to leave to get more game time, City would, IMO, let him go so long as they got a fair fee. Milner wants that fee for himself or maybe his charity but, regardless, he is currently preventing City from capitalising fully on the value of his registration. That is bad for MCFC.

He signed a contract and to the best of my knowledge he has honoured that contract as have we. He is fully entitled to not sign another contract if he believes that it would be against his best interests to do so. Reasons could be financial (as you state), a lack of playing time (as he states) or something else entirely (wanting to play abroad/fancying a fresh challenge/change of scenery etc).

I believe it is likely to be due to a perceived lack of playing time. This is what he has said himself and I see no reason for him to be dishonest about it. Any of the other reasons are perfectly acceptable, so why lie about it?
Don't know but im not buying this "lack of game time", unless he expects to be regular starter at City. If he expects that, then he is way unrealistic. He had enough game time last season. Over 40 appearances in a double winning team.

He started 12 matches last season. 12.

BBC Gossip saying Roma want Jimmy for £10 million. Would rather he stay with us but if we sell him in January would rather sell him to a mid/lower lever Premier League team in order to get the English premium for him. Not to mention the Italian clubs are notoriously cheap.

lets put it another way, imagine i played for leeds who are in the position we are in at the moment,,but my club has always been city who are in the position leeds are in.

my contract with leeds is nearing the end,i would take the free transfer with the huge signing on fee, play for another club, then run that contract down and join city on a free.

I get to secure my families future, and I get to finish my career at city.

jimmy is a leeds lad,and if I was in his position I would run the contract down, and take the mega money, who wouldn't ?

You forget James has been on mega money curtesy of City for the last 4 years. Having played for Leeds, Newcastle and aston villa his salary went from £10k per month to £80k when he signed for us. He wouldn't have been on anything like that at any other club and wouldn't have won as much silverware or played so much for England. Everything he has is thanks to City, Forgive me but if he doesn't sign I'll consider it an act of treason whatever the reason and consider him to be an ungrateful bastard!!!
Your arse is talking mate, should get that checked out.

The double standard that footballers are criticised for not seeing out their contract, then being criticised when one is considering seeing the contract he signed out. Some of our supporters are a joke at times.

How's that ? what did I say that isn't a fact ? My allegiance is to City not James Milner. There's many a player who signed a contract with a club to ensure that the club gets the value for the player with the agreement that he wants to move on just as Suarez did. Milner has not rejected the contract offered but given a lame excuse to say he wants to wait and see before signing, that puts the club in difficult position, better he made his intentions clear when offered a new contract . If he goes on to leave he's behaved disrespectfully to his club, team mates and the fans by not being honest about things in the first place.

You supporting a player behaving like that over the best interests of the club you propport to support is the real joke my friend!!

What a pile of utter horseshit. He's a professional footballer, he's never claimed to be a fan or love the club. "Treason" lol. He's been a model pro whilst at City and if he decides to go, then I for one will thank him for his contribution.
As for saying he owes everything to City, well that's just more fucking nonsense. He was already an England international and absolutely adored by Villa fans. He may have won medals with City but his reputation as a player has suffered.

Your comments are bizarre.....I never said he hadn't already played for England.....I give you a list of all the reasons why he should stay with City and you appear to refer to the medals Milner has won with City as trivial. Your suggestion that Milner has suffered as a player with us is utter tosh, you've been reading the Sun too much sat on the toilet. Are you really suggesting he should have stayed at Villa winning no trophies and earning £500k as oppose to £4 mill per year with us. He's also had the benefit of training and being looked after by a much better club which will no doubt of improved him as a player. These are all reasons why he should stay, if he leaves it will be for money and I can guarantee that his years at City will have been his most successful.

You need to sort out where your loyalties lie, stop believing the media hype that City have ruined every young player that's played for us and get behind the club.

I smile like fuck when I read some of the hypocrisy written on this thread. The old adage "let him who caste the first stone ..."
How many of you fuckers have left one company to join another, because the previous company were "paying shit wages " ???

I think you need to learn the difference between "reason" and "loyalty".

The club isn't in the right just because you want it to be.

If Milner walks away from the club for free it will be disrespecting us at 28 I cant see him moving to go to his childhood club he will be moving for money, Im a fan of him but there are a number of footballers who sign extensions knowing they will be sold and it would be the least Milner could do after we paid a small fortune for him on top of that his wages and his medals. Im a big fan of Milner but he is kinda putting the club over a barrel, he will only sign a new deal if he is playing more but what happens when Nasri is back and he still hasn't signed? Does Manny let Milner contract situation dictate his selection? For the record I would start Milner in 80% of the games his work rate is incredible. If he doesn't sign by the end of November we should be looking to move him on in January, we cant afford to lose him for nothing in summer with FFP. I think and hope he will sign.

Your post literally makes no sense. Saying how he was earning a lot less before he joined us so if he leaves it will only be for money. If all he cared about was money he would have snatched the contract and signed in his own blood there and then. I think you need to stop getting so upset that Milner isn't a life long blue and might actually leave for footballing reasons.

I know hes on mega money compared to the normal man but at the end of the day its his job,and like all of us would jump for the money at the drop of a hat.

he seems like a top pro,he never causes problems, and im pretty sure hes a straight up lad,and if he goes then he goes with my thanks, however, hes not a city fan,hes a pro and he will want to earn what he can when he can,as for treason,no he hasn't betrayed us,hes served us well.

With regards the money thing he's been earning more money at City than any other club would have paid him, he has earnt £16 mill in his 4 years with us as oppose to £2 mill had he stayed with Villa.

I agree 100% with your comments he's been a top pro and that's why the club and fans want to see him stay. It's his right not to sign but he should be straight with the club when offered a new contract. If he goes on to sign with Leeds I could understand that. He won't be guaranteed playing time with any club so at the moment it looks like his motives are money driven which he should just come out and say "I've no intention of extending my contract" To string the club on with lame excuses is disrespectful.

And what reasons did he move to City for?

The hypocrisy in this thread is staggering...

Milner's has earnt £16million with City as oppose to £2 million had he stayed at Villa. I wish I was on shit money like James!! That's not the point though is, I always had James as a standup guy, seems like he's just stringing the club along with a lame excuse. By the way I'm sure the contract offer was an improvement on his current £80k per week deal, as with Kompany, Aguero, Nasri, Dzeko, Kolarov . If he wants to leave no problem, just be fuckin honest about it.
