12 consecutive clean sheets he’s just kept which suggests he might be worth another look at.
Jim stannard kept 29 clean sheets for Gillingham in 95/96 season. It wasn’t that he was an amazing keeper it was that the team was set up that way to defend properly and keep things tight.

Pulis was the manager and was very strict in what he did.

My point is just because he has kept a load of clean sheets doesn’t automatically make him a great keeper. He’s decent don’t get me wrong but he isn’t the standard of keeper we need for where we want to be.

I’m happy to be proven wrong though as I do like it when a keeper makes the grade.

I was hoping for more from keepers like Angus Gunn/ Jack butland and even back as far as Steven bywater and Chris Kirkland . With their abilities they should have done so much more.

Kirkland could have been elite. Injuries didn’t help and I’m not sure he had that mental/bravery streak that the very best have.

Without wishing to derail the thread he should have stayed at Coventry a bit longer rather than going to Liverpool at the same time they got dudek.
Shame as he’s a really nice down to earth bloke and he’s quite candid with his confessions of his mental health and playing football.

He biggest weakness is with the ball at his feet, he looks very ordinary/poor to me.

Our next manager might want more from a keeper than exceptional ball playing. As a team that’s ultimately underachieved in Europe for the past decade relative to the quality of the squads we’ve had, a keeper who can redefine outcomes at the top level with saves will hopefully be the priority.

Wouldn't even get Palmer for that, but would be worth the meltdown on here and elsewhere!!

I think the time will come in the next 2-3 years where we have to seriously consider whether we’re going to buy Palmer back. All depends on Chelsea’s on field record in that time though.

He won't settle for being second choice and he is far from being good enough for being first choice. We can and will find better.

If he knows Ederson is only one more year, he might do it? I'd be happy with him back.
