Would be a great signing. Homegrown means a lot more flexibility for a right back. Made at the club always helps. Really a no-brainer for £40m. (Has Viana been on here looking for transfer targets again?)

Ederson and Ortega is ok. Ederson and Trafford is ok. Ortega and Trafford is not.

If Eddie goes, Ortega might as well follow him out the door because he’s not a number 1. Neither is Trafford.

Weird one. Not good enough to be number 1 here not even close at the moment. As a number 2 in the hope he can improve and potentially become no. 1 long term then fine. But not if Edersons off. Got majorly done on his first season in the prem and I don’t see anything special from his championship season last year. Great on pens but looks like a spot on a domino Inbetween the posts. Not a serious no. 1 option for a team wanting to win the league and champions league.

Those talking about his shot stopping ability, even on his highlights reel I can’t find one save in the whole of last season where I think wow how’s he saved that. And I know the best close down the angles etc and make everything look simple but unless your elite level with your feet like Ederson, and therefore get away with odd howlers and rushes of blood to the head, then you also have to save your team points with big saves and I don’t see it with Trafford.

Yes fucking please.

Makes much sense. Considering we have a non-homegrown problem, having 2 non-homegrown GKs is a luxury we cant afford at the moment. Having a young, homegrown and club trained GK who just got promoted from the Championship, breaking multiple GK-records while doing so, who also got called up to the English national team last season (even if he didn't play) will probably do absolutely fine as 1 out of 2 GKs.

Makes sense. Has the potential to be our number 1 for the next decade.

Whoever we sign will be a gamble, but Trafford is more of a known quantity to Pep and our scouting team than anyone else we could sign.

Isn't any better than Ederson no how much you spin it
He’s a better shot-stopper. Just came off at excellent season at Burnley. A huge number of clean sheets something like 27/28. I know it’s the championship but hugely impressive. He’s HG too. Knows City inside out — yes he doesn’t have the distribution go of Ederson but nobody does. I think we need a consistent presence in goals that can be good in build-up but can also dig us out of difficult situations. He can fight with Ortega this season — I’d bet on him making the spot his own.

He’s probably a better shot stopper but he’s nowhere near with his distribution. Not sure how much that can be trained into a goalkeeper either
There isn’t any goalkeepers like that this is why Ederson is so unique and ridiculous. He’s literally has the passing of a playmaker in goals. But the errors are creeping in, as are the injuries and I think a change would be beneficial. Worth noting he only played 25 PL games last season.
