He’s a better shot-stopper. Just came off at excellent season at Burnley. A huge number of clean sheets something like 27/28. I know it’s the championship but hugely impressive. He’s HG too. Knows City inside out — yes he doesn’t have the distribution go of Ederson but nobody does. I think we need a consistent presence in goals that can be good in build-up but can also dig us out of difficult situations. He can fight with Ortega this season — I’d bet on him making the spot his own.
Not by a long chalk. Need to find better keepers for that.

Isn't any better than Ederson no how much you spin it

Ederson is 31 the finished article , Trafford is 22 and still learning , He has bits to improve in his game from his own words he knows this. But he was still the best keeper in championship last season. He’s English , homegrown and wants to play for us.

He’s also 6ft 6 that’s a major bonus for a keeper.

Think I’d prefer Trafford to Costa. He’s not as good with his feet, but he’d be club trained and give us more room to buy another foreign player somewhere else in the squad.

Either of them is going to be a downgrade on Ederson, so we’ll need to be patient with whomever comes.

Personally not too fussed about the ball playing ability. We don’t need an alien like Ederson because teams just completely refuse to press us high up anymore anyway. So I’d rather we prioritise shot stopping.

FWIW, I think Eddie has improved tenfold in that regard (IMO) but think it’s been fairly obvious he’s ready to leave for the past 12-24 months.

We’d miss his long ball accuracy but enough to prioritise keeping him over others - if he wants to leave? Not for me. Personally anyway.

Means jack shit.
Would say he’s a better shot stopper as well but of course maybe not fully suited to the other attributes that Ederson brings us at his best but right now Ederson is far from it and doesn’t want to be here so would 100% rather Trafford. But of course Trafford is a risk considering his age so going to be many doubts at first at least

Totally disagree with that.

Win win for me. Also Newcastle are very keen on him which is always a good sign imo. I think it sends out a good message to likes of McAtee etc that there is a pathway back to City if your good enough.

Weird one. Not good enough to be number 1 here not even close at the moment. As a number 2 in the hope he can improve and potentially become no. 1 long term then fine. But not if Edersons off. Got majorly done on his first season in the prem and I don’t see anything special from his championship season last year. Great on pens but looks like a spot on a domino Inbetween the posts. Not a serious no. 1 option for a team wanting to win the league and champions league.

Those talking about his shot stopping ability, even on his highlights reel I can’t find one save in the whole of last season where I think wow how’s he saved that
Hes a great shot stopper.

His save percentage was phenomenal last season at 85%+ albeit in the championship. Even in his awful prem season he had a higher save % than Edersons did in our treble winning season.

There are definitely concerns if he is to be our No.1, shot stopping isn't one of them.

Teams will press us again if they deem Trafford to be a liability. That could be a positive if Pep works out a way to make the build up safe as we’d have more room to exploit.

It’s going to be different whomever comes in. We’ll have to adapt.
