I agree on some level, but then look we bough Khusanov and Reis for relatively large fees as young investments for the future, and they are still not preferred over the likes of Akanji, Ake and out of form Dias, unless pep was forced to play them.... So it would be a change in policy to sell 1-2 established senior players for a younger prospect and throw them in the deep end as a certified starter. Trafford looks a huge prospect but you have to factor in he struggled last time he stepped up to the premier league, though of course things can change as he is still very young for a GK.Those who keep banging on about banging on about Trafford being young and a risk seemed to have overlooked what our transfer policy now is.. to buy young and invest in the future . We are now in an almost total re-build. As for Trafford those expressing doubts did not watch him last season.
So around 40m for a number two keeper?
And what around 80/90 million spent on two keepers. Can’t see that happening.
We’ll sign one keeper who will end being first choice. Trafford isn’t moving here to be a back up
So what happened in 2 years when pep goes and we have to rebuild to our next coach . It’s called moving with the times and bringing new ideas and new players in also pep must see somthing he likes in Trafford for this to even be thought about .People can keep saying this till the ends of times.
It has been pretty evident the last 10 years that Pep and the club care more about how comfortable someone is with their feet. If they aren't they can't play for City period. It's not something they can ignore it's vital to the way Pep wants to play.
Valdes wasn't the best at shot stopping by any means but he was with his feet that's why he played under Pep. Same goes for Bravo. It's been this way Peps whole career and it won't change. Being great with their feet is first thing a Pep GK needs.
I think we will go for that Werder Bremen keeper. If Ortega goes there were links last summer to him when it was hinted Ortega wanted to leave.
Personally can't see us replacing all 3 keepers. Too much upheaval. Also would be tough for a 22 year old to come in as number 1 and have nobody else in his position to get guidance from as they are also all new to City.I think we will go for that Werder Bremen keeper. Always looked comfortable for ireland and in youth games in ireland. Guess the levels are huge.Miles better. Bazunu never looked that comfortable at it
Wasn’t Trafford brought up on the pep style in our academy?Personally can't see us replacing all 3 keepers. Too much upheaval. Also would be tough for a 22 year old to come in as number 1 and have nobody else in his position to get guidance from as they are also all new to City.
For me the likeliest scenario surely is Pep promoting Ortega to number 1 initially while Trafford gets his feet under the ground and learns to play for a Pep side.
I find it odd that there was considerable disappointment last season with our tactics.. build up too slow, high line etcSo what happened in 2 years when pep goes and we have to rebuild to our next coach . Still think it's a lot of pressure to put on a 22 year old coming up from the Championship and something very un like Pep to do. Say Pep does throw Trafford in at the Deep end from the off and he looks to be struggling a bit. Suddenly our no.2 is also another brand new keeper that we don't know can handle it or not.Wasn’t Trafford brought up on the pep style in our academy?
That’s the risk with any young player though. Ederson was only young when we signed for city as well.Still think it's a lot of pressure to put on a 22 year old coming up from the Championship and something very un like Pep to do. Just think Pep will want some continuity initially.

They already press the defence, just don't bother to press Ederson as he'll make you run up to him then make you look daft. You see it when Ortega plays, forwards press him and close down his options. Whenever Ederson leaves, it'll change, there's no other keeper like him but they will bring other strengthsGetting a different keeper in means a change in style
Teams have basically stopped pressing us cause Ederson is so good with his fet its like having a midfielder play in the back line .
Changing to a keeper who aint nowhere near as good with his feet or as comfortable (and thats not a criticism- more a refletion of how good and unique Ederson is) means teams will start to press us again...and with our shakey back line Im not sure that issuch a great idea
No way he comes in as a no.2 either
Im happy for us to keep Edersonbut if he wants to go then there is nothing we can do about it really

Yes and now witha. new keeper they will also press the keeper.....so not a great idea. They already press the defence, just don't bother to press Ederson as he'll make you run up to him then make you look daft. We dont want teams to press us with out brittle defenceWe need teams to press us. Otherwise we turn Ruben Dias into a deep lying playmaker and fuck all happens.
