January defenders

We need a third quality CB in January as there is no guarantee Stones or Laporte will be back, the lad Ruben Dais looks as though he could do the job as does Konate but Dais has a buyout clause we can afford and a wage demand that suits us better than De Ligt and Maguire the players we were gazumped on .
As for the two youth players, until they have done a year at a Championship club, where we can gauge their ability in a league we know they will stay kids

Sorry, that is just not right, which championship clubs will let them calmly stroke the ball about at the back like we want them to learn and have them doing in practice every day?
Plus the fact we have the most horrendous record of loaning players out to the wrong clubs.

We had 90% of posters in the transfer thread screaming about the lack of a central defender coming in, nearly all of those were desperate to bring in De Ligt or Maguire at any costs in the majority of cases.

Now we’ve seen both of those, including one “generational talent” in De Ligt having mixed to poor starts at their new clubs, hopefully we can stop this new shiny toy will fix all our problems instantly bullshit.

Whoever we buy has to be the right player at the right time, for the right price, otherwise walk away and wait for the central defensive equivalent of Rodri.

Leeds who play a style very similar to us Fulham who always try to play football Reading Brentford and Bristol also,, you say City have a poor record of loans i say the opposite Tosin Muric ooth Garcia`s Angelino and Maffeo all left City and found their level, players leaving City and going to a championship club are the easiest to gauge as we know that level, the simple truth is if we loaned out both our youngsters to Leeds they would not get a game, and that is true with every premiership club as well

Muric is already dropped, not sure who ooth is lol Manu Garcia's went on loan and never came back, Angelino went on loan and left and then was bought back, MAffeo went on loan and was sold, how are these examples of great loans for kids to get in our first team?

Along with all the other 100's of loans.

One youth hasn't gone out on loan and is in and around the first team training and getting some minutes and crucially learning how to play in the way Pep wants = Foden

Zinchenko the one exception, his loan was awful but he got into the team through injuries in an alien position and through hard work and willingness to learn has impressed Pep enough to be given a chance and a new contract.

If Garcia and THB go out on loan they will not be playing with world class players and that is the difference when being integrated into a team like Citys or for example see Arnald at LFC.
For me Otamendi is making mistakes all over the place, Stones has gone to pot due to injuries and his fucking shagging about which has made him a mistake monster, we may as well partner one of the boys with Fernie and or then Laporte on his return, we have nothing to lose, due to the others already making the mistakes you will claim the youth will no doubt have in them.

Both of those boys will be better than Ake and Mings but not unless we give them quality time with world class players.

Maybe I am biased as I would love to see us start harvesting our youth from here on in, the final piece of the jigsaw, there will still be a place for top draw signings

Oh you are right with those teams but will those teams with a strong desire for the prem be willing to trust a young loan defender over somebody they have bought, again look at Muric, looked quality for us in the cups but a couple of novice errors and Forrest couldn't wait to get him out of the team.

Manchester City currently have NO plans to sign a defender in January. That has been Pep Guardiola’s position all along, and it is confirmed by club sources who know the transfer strategy intimately. [@StuBrennanMEN]
Oh right, if it’s coming from Stuart Brennan it must be true. Personally, I very much doubt Pep and the Club are sharing their plans with the MEN.

We’ll see what happens in January,

Pep has said it all along, think about it,we never panic buy,it's a 100m + investment buying a player, when eric is back in jan/feb,stones is fit now,we have nico,it's been the plan for months for dinho to be at the back,we have the 2 kids, stock piling in jan is just not practical

I hear you but...

Laporte may be out for quite a while.
Before his injury Stones was in a serious slump in form and seems to have lost his confidence.
Otamendi should be sold. He’s been a good servant to the Club but simply isn’t good enough.
Pep is showing no signs that he thinks Harwood-Bellis and Garcia are ready to be blooded. Personally, I’d like to see them get a chance but I don’t make the decisions
If we have lost the Premier League by January (which is very possible) we will be concentrating on the Champions League. But we are not winning the Champions League with that defence.

Sane is surplus to requirements and appears to want to leave. It simply makes sense to cash in on him and spend the money on the defence.

We won't do it in jan though ;) injuries and loss of form is football,we will manage

I think we made a mistake with the Otamendi situation, we should have cut our losses in hindsight and made the transfer happen in the summer and brought one CB in, in his and Kompany's absence. It's not that I've never rated Otamendi but it just seems like that would have been the right time. He deserves credit for the centurions season, in the first few months of that season him and Stones were starting to trust in each other and forming a solid partnership. Stones was in the form of his life but then got injured and Otamendi carried on like nothing happened, which was overlooked by many but was as equally as important as the start Laporte made.

He is less than two years younger than Kompany, he's never had pace and he's never been suited to being a leader IMO(he doesn't seem very vocal) which is why he plays better next to a Kompany or someone in good form. He wanted to leave in the summer himself, to play in Spain with less pressure/demands on him. That could been seen as him being honest with himself and his manager that his body/head isn't up to the demands of holding a place in this team. Which is why it's harsh to pin all the blame on him at the moment, should we really have let it get to this point, where we are relying on him to be the main man with the above in mind? Nobody at the club saw this coming.

The chances of finding Otamendi the move he wants in January and getting good value on the CB that should have come in the summer are slim. We may just have accept the challenge ahead, as we have done with the LB situation. Yet Pep is just a chequebook manager and City buy their way around every problem with a click of their fingers, according to some.
