January defenders

Ok delphinho, is there rules how many times you can name a player in a thread about any defenders that will help. I'd say maybe I've mentioned him 4 times over 2/3 threads. Thanks for the reply though buddy. Merry xmas
Regardless of how many times you’ll suggest him, it won’t be more likely that we sign him. And by the way, you’ve mentioned his name 31 times ;) Merry xmas to you too :)

Tah is apparently extremely misstake prone and make defensive blunders frequently. Not someone we need. That's why he's still stuck at Leverkusen.

I think Upamecano is our man. Quick, strong and technical. Wordclass potential with only 18 months left on his contract.

If Leroy is set on going to Bayern and its gunna happen in January then we should go all out to repay the favour and bring in David Alaba.

Kouilably, Varane and the lad off Barca are the only cb players below 30 on the same level and playing at the same level as Laporte and Van dyke. I don't think there's much chance of signing any of those. Unless we sign a stop gap, scout and unearth an unknown gem or nurture an upcoming prospect or what we already have it's going to be problematic postition we will still be taking about a few years from now, especially if ferndinho hasn't long left.

I know it’s only highlights but he certainly looks a tidy player! Last one we got from Bilbao didn’t turn out too bad either? ;-)

The only two central defenders that I believe would give us immediate effect in the backline and would hand us a serious chance of winning UCL, would be either Koulibaly or Skriniar.
The both tick all the boxes for me: strong, fast, decisive and reads the game superb, and they played a lot for their respective teams on the highest level.

Then we have the rumours about Unai Nunez, Pau Torres and Ruben Dias.

Nunez future looks very bright and one can see he has a similar playing style to Laporte, coming from the same academy. With his release clause of just 27m, he is definitely worth looking at.
Torres, I don't know much about, but I think he is off the table. Pep is so demanding and throurough about his central defenders, and I think he wants a right-footed partner to Laporte and not another left-footed CB for the build-up play.
Dias has been linked with us for quite some time. He is tall, strong, has good positioning and commanding in the backline which are all great attributes. But looking at the way he plays, he seem to like to lunge in with slide tackles when trying to regain the ball and he ends up on his ass a lot. I think he would give away a lot of freekicks and penalties in the prem. I'm not just convinced when looking at him on YouTube. I have no doubts about his qualities but I'm not sure he is (or will become) the world class CB that we desperately need. For me, the most important attrbutes for a central defender (besides having good feet) are the ability to use speed to close down on attackers when getting countered, intercepting passes and using standing tackles in a decisive manner (like Koulibaly does so well). He is not ticking all the boxes for me.

There is no doubt that we need someone in January. I''m just struggling to see who would be the best fit.

Still think in view of the current situation it comes down to which one you think is fittest, and of course available.

I wouldn't buy anyone.

What City needed was a stop-gap defender, a competent 30 something until Garcia and Harwood Bellis were ready. That player was JFE. City fans let hatred of Man Utd cloud their judgment.

A stopgap defender at the cost of 30m, yes 30m pounds, for what was and still is a shit defender, the manure sneery face was just the cherry on the top of the cake, not the main deal breaker.

I prefer you get banned. I’m surely not the only one.

Well, that just isn't very nice, these are long term posters, not johnny come lately's.

Yes, they have been a little over the top this last couple of days, no doubt due to all the xmas pop they have slithered down their necks but reporting and wanting them banned is a little over the top is it not?

It does seem a bit weird. All stems from me slagging off Ronaldo (TT's favourite player) in another thread I think.

The problem imo isnt really the boring attempt at humour, but more the fact that it started with a "top blue" on a crusade because someone said they liked someone that used to play for United(a guy that said he felt like a slave there, and gave his best years to Madrid nonetheless)

The "obvious rag", "far east rag" crap culture on this forum needs to stop, its just really cringy. Every opinion on here that doesnt fit the "everyone connected to city is flawless and the world is against us" narrative is sneered and jumped by the same posters time and time again, and their glasses are so tinted they cant see their own delusion. Its rawk level and holds good debates back. Im sure many people will disagree.

I dont even know if TikiTaka is a city fan but his input has been nice to read on potential centre-backs, so a bit annoying the threads have been derailed because a couple of comedians felt the need to belittle him because he admitted to like one of the most popular athletes in the world and second best player of his generation. Oh, and for allegedly being from Asia which is obviously something to be used as a stick to beat him with

Well goading him for being Asian is just wrong if they did that but let's be honest goading him for being a fanboy Ronaldo is a little bit fair game, not so sure of this "slave" scenario you have painted for him at the rags, he loves old Slur Alex at the end of the day.
He did say something along those lines. Giving his best years to Madrid is indisuptable though. And I agree its probably fair game, but no need to go over the top and derail every debate because of it though
Perhaps he'd accused folk of having multiple accounts or sent various pm's to other posters telling them to 'go fuck themselves'? In such circumstances he's lucky folk did respond with humour rather than tantrums like his.
I know nothing about this, seems between you guys and should stay that way.
My point is more generalized, the whole screaming "rag, rag" every time someone says something you dislike or disagree with has been a problem on this forum for years and have annoyed me a lot lately. You can barely say anything remotely positive about the scousers or united without getting hounded by top blues, and thats well and good considering its a city forum, but its also a forum where like minded footballfans should be able to discuss football no?

Sorry, bit on the tantrum side myself lol

Just 2 things then I will be off again.

1) Whoever chose not to replace Kompany in the summer should be sacked.

2) We aren't signing a CB in January.
