january signings

I doubt we will make any major signings in this window, but listening to Mancini yesterday I think a loan signing to cover the departure of Razak and Yaya maybe looked at

Rodwell is injured and unlikely to be available during the ACON and Garcia has only played in half the League games because of injury

I'd like to see us sign a winger who can beat a man because so many teams are sitting deep against us, I feel a wide player who can beat a man and cross a ball - like Peter Beagrie - would be deadly. But that's easy to say and a lot harder to do

Good point, any clues as to who we could get?

I'll probably get slated but with that in mind, Stuart Downing could be worth a go for short-term. Dzeko would certainly thrive off his crosses and didn't Downing have the best assist ratio last season in the League?

He would add a much needed option to our play.

Tin-hat on!!

Put that rod away.

Matthew Etherington from Stoke, Jimmy Kebe from Reading? Hoilett I like too, not a winger but great pace and dribbling skills

Take your tin hat and hit yourself on the head with it. Repeat until you're sanity has returned.

Lol, can I be excused on this occasion, tin-hat or no tin-hat, it was New Year's Eve last night afterall!

I do definitely remember reading something about his assists and number of crosses, maybe it wasn't last season though but his name sprung to mind as we need someone who can cross the ball to give us an extra dimension at times.

As the alcohol starts to wear off later maybe I'll start to realise Stuart Downing is not the answer! :-)

Rodwell and Garcia for various reason have not produced the goods or lived up to expectation, they were obviously bought with Yaya's departure in mind and subsequently that plan has fallen flat on its arse.

We need a quality CAM,i keep hearing this name Benat,he appears genuine quality and isn't a crock, the trouble is even we sign such a player we are stockpiling clones(of various degrees of talent....) and that does not make for a healthy squad and nor does it comply with FFP.

The need for a quality wideman/playmaker has been such for the past few seasons,i can only assign the fact we havn't purchased one down to poor player purchase from the management due to a fixation with a single method of play.

Hopfully the two positions will be rectified and we can push on and claw back those points,i believe we'll struggle to maintain 2nd,never mind retain the crown,if not.

I've been trying hard to work out what the club might do in this window. As someone already said, Rodwell and Garcia were bought with the idea of covering for Yaya going to Africa and both now look not to be the answer for whatever reason. Bobby has repeatedly said (and most of us know as well) our forwards are not scoring enough, snatching at chances etc. Players always cost more in January as managers panic buy and, as such, I think we will see our beloved club try to work clever and my thinking is that we may try to get David Villa and Wesley Schneider both on loan till the summer. I think any buying will be left until then with some deals already being worked on.
Just my thinking, I could be way off target, but still think it is the way we will go in this window.
