I would like to take them one at a time. We have two foreign spots available and for me Sanchez will occupy one and we need a left back. The rest of the team can wait till summer IMO

Interesting thread. I'm not doing much scouting myself so thanks to all for some input.

Whatever will happen to the squad: as long as Pep is here,
I have a very good feeling that he and his philosophy is able to attract all those top players we dream to see in sky blue.
That again will attract more top players...

I would love to see something like this

January
LB- Ghoulam for £12m
Attacker- Sanchez £25m

Summer
DM- Milinkovic-Savic £60m
CB-Skrinier £40m

Outgoings
Mangala- £7m
Yaya- Free agent to NYCFC
Delph- £15m

Extensions
Fernandinho- one more year

Gross Spend: £137m
Net Spend: £115m

Other options for DM: Fabinho, Jorginho, Diawara

CB options: Koulibaly, Van Dijk

Weigl for me is not an option yet. Many cite pace but what he really lacks is the physicality needed for the PL. Let him grow and develop and we can consider him again when Fernandinho leaves.

We do this business and we’ll have an amazing squad for years and finally we’ll be in a postion where we’ll only need to add a player or two maximum each summer.

We need to focus on CB, LB but more importantly DM we are depending on Fernandinho to stay injury free lately and Yaya will be gone soon, Gundogan is not dependable. I would like someone german, young and that fits Pep system

If we sell Delph and replace him with a foreign player will we not be over our quota of foreign players?

You might be right. It will be tough then because we really need to strengthen in these 4 key positions and I don’t see any homegrown player good enough for us in those positions bar Rose who would cost £50m. Maybe Bertrand but he would also cost a lot.

Sell Bravo and have Gunn as our backup?

Easier said than done, convincing a very highly rated, much sought after, and incredibly ambitious, young keeper to sit on our bench for 90% of the season will be a very difficult ask.

Could we loan out Gunn again next season but have a recall anytime clause in his contract, so god forbid if Ederson got injured/suspended we'd just recall Gunn the next day? That way he could be playing regularly for Norwich or someone and not sat on the bench, but still effectively available if needed.

I thought about it but

Like @FantasyIreland said it won’t be so easy.

I don’t know if cup games will be enough for Gunn. Ederson will probably be number 1 for a long time.

I know people might not like it but bringing in Jonny Evans would because good move. He would replace mangala in the squad, bringing experience and leadership and also add another homegrown player into the mix. This would allow us to sell Delph and bring in another proper LB

Not that I want to sell Delph I really like him but it's clear that somebody needs to be sacrificed to improve the team further.

Bring in Evans. Sell Delph. Feck me.

It’ll be intersting to see if we buy less and focus on integrating Foden and Diaz in some areas. Maybe a leftback, centre back and centre mid as additions.

And how exactly would selling one of our most in form utility players improve the team further?

January : LB (bertrand/ghoulam/gaya); a CB & Sanchez
Summer : a CB, 2 DM (Savic & Weigl), Sanchez (free, if we cannot get him in jan), Messi for free (finger cross)

out in January : Mangala
out next summer : Yaya, bravo, hart, bony, otamendi

total In (1LB, 2CB, 2 DM, & Sanchez = 6 (+/- 150m) + Messi :-)
total Out : 6 (+/- 40m)

No thank you. JFE is not only not good enough, he’s almost 30. Would be a terrible signing. If we go for an English CB would rather we try Maguire or Gibson.

Maybe I should have rephrased what I said. I like Delph a lot. I believe if guardiola is serious about keeping an English identity for the club then you need to keep guys like Delph. However my concern is with the number of both foreign and homegrown players. If my calculations are correct we have 16 foreign players.
Aguero
Jesus
B Silva
Sane
Silva
De Bruyne
Gundogan
Yaya
Fernandihno
Danilo
Kompany
Otamendi
Mangala
Mendy
Bravo
Ederson
Assuming we bring in Sanchez in january that will take up all our foreign players spots. Our homegrown players are
Sterling
Stones
Walker
Delph.
That is 21 player.
Now we could get rid of Yaya and Mangala but you would expect to fill their spots with players from that position, DM and CB respectively.
If my calculations are correct If we want to bring in a LB this window then we cannot bring in Sanchez without sacrificing somebody.
