January

I love the way you have written Fernando off. He has the talent as he showed it on his debut. He did say he was carrying a niggle for most of last season, so why not give him a break and a little more time to prove his worth. Eli took some stick on here before settling down and is now receiving well deserved plaudits.

Didnt he have a poor debut? Have you not confused him with Mangala?

Don't believe I am. My point was people seem to want instant success and if they don't get it, then that player is deemed crap, useless or whatever. Very few land running, but the PL is blessed with many players who are world class.

He played extremely well on his debut, but has been garbage ever since to be fair.

He was even better against Roma away. I think he's actually a decent player but just has been shit 90% of the time he's played for us. Not sure he will ever get to a consistent level with us but I wouldn't be surprised if he turned into an important player for a Serie A team.

He'd probably suit the Serie A as the pace of the game is nowhere near the Premier League, similar to the Portuguese league, he'd flourish there, but I can't see it happening here.

He blames his poor form on groin strain.

Lets hope it is just that because he can be a pivotal player for us. His experience of playing with Mangala and Otamendi can only hold us in good stead as we will see that trio at some point. I personally believe he can only be a starter for us in a 4-3-3 formation anchoring the 3. Delph is a starter over him at present imo.

I have seen Batshuayi tipped to be one of the break out players of the season quite a lot. Got a reputation as a Super-sub last year because he kept scoring goals literally seconds after being brought on.

January depends on the willingness to play sporadically of the likes of Nasri, Fernando and the fitness of our two strikers; will Nasri want to spend the entire season as purely back-up?

Ideally everyone will stay fit and content for the duration of the season and we can then focus on next summer; given the age of Fernandinho and Toure, and mediocrity of Fernando, we are likely to need two new central midfielders next season, one of which should be Aaron Ramsey.

I wanted Ramsey this window :(
