Jason Denayer - Official - gone on loan to Galatasaray

from a pr perspective I think it reflects badly on Denayer - it makes him seem like one decent spell at Celtic and he already thinks he's made it. It's flawed logic too if he's so much better than them then he'll be in the team by Christmas, if he isn't and he doesn't have the attitude and resilience to be a squad player then he shouldn't be.

If he ends up with anything comparable to Demichelis' honours I'll be shocked. Just look at Nastasic and Rekik who many were convinced would make it and showed just as much promise as Denayer.

See I hear what you're saying, but I really feel like Denayer's season was under-reported in England. Have you read what Wilmots and the Belgian press have been saying about Jason for the past 9 months? It's nothing different. In fact Wilmots has taken it further.

There are people, outside of City, who genuinely believe we have one of the finest young central defenders in Europe. To them our dithering about whether or not he can handle being 3rd choice is bordering on laughable. Not to say that I'm taking sides, here... just saying that from the outside we're cutting the lad short.

I agree with this. If he really is already than Demichellis, he'll have little problem taking over him in the pecking order within a few months. He should be seeing that as an achievable goal and be ready for the challenge instead of wanting assurances. It's the ideal scenario for us in terms of where those two players in particular are at in their career.

Demichellis is unlikely to kick up a fuss at this stage of his career if during the course of the season he's dropped down to league cup duty and Denayer gets the chance to prove he's good enough to play for a top team in this league without being completely thrown in at the deep end. It's win-win for City. Either Denayer proves himself to be top class and we've got ourselves a homegrown centre half that improves our squad or he isn't quite ready to step up and we've got the reliable demichellis to fall back on.

Demchelis has been there and wore the T-Shirt, Denayer is just starting his career and needs to get his head down.

The reason for the delay in the negotiations has to do with waiting to see if MCFC brings in a CB like Otamendi in the transfer window. If that's the case why would he stick around for 3-4 years playing a squad role.

Barca, Real and Bayern will all come calling for him in a few years. He just needs some experience playing starting for top teams in the big 5 leagues.

Is this a joke or are you a Salford fan
